Guest guest
This is sooo cool for you ! I know what you mean about the gatherings with friends, family, and kids outings... every social event seems to revolve around food. argh. I keep thinking that I would put out a message around the neighborhood to recruit other parents that either have (or have children who have) food sensitivities so that gatherings weren't such a challenge and that they would understand why we turn down this food or that. Just imagine... a gathering where all foods were labeled with their ingredients! lol I'm so impressed that you've gone a whole week! This sugar thing is a real monster to get hold of. I've been cheating recently, sigh. What brand of waffles did you find? I have yet to find one I like. Also, what do you put on your waffles? Jenifer One week I have now been on this diet for one week. I have noticed 3 cool things so far. 1) My hair loss seems to be slowing down! I don't know if it's related but maybe it's because I'm eating much more protein than I was? 2) When I get hungry, I don't shake anymore!!! Now I get hungry but I can go about my business and not worry about it. Before, I would get hungry every 4 hours and get nauseous and weak and shake uncontrollably, and it was an " emergency " to get to a snack! 3) I lost 3 pounds. I am ready to make another visit to Wild Oats to try some more new things, but I have found that I don't like any of the new things I've tried so far. So I have been eating the same things I used to eat, but only the good stuff. I haven't tasted anything new that I like - except for one thing. I found some waffles that are yeast/egg/dairy free, and pretty good! They probably still contain something I shouldn't have - I wasn't sure when I was at the store. I just now made up a list of bad ingredients so this time I'll have my list with me when I go to the store. My diet is pretty limited so I need to find something new that I like. I have been cheating a little. I was supposed to avoid eggs for the first week but I found that was the only thing I could think of for breakfast. So I've been having eggs. But I've been pretty good too - I was at someone's house yesterday and she served a chocolate cream pie and I didn't touch it. THAT was a struggle! Tomorrow at church it is pizza day and the kids are serving a cake they made. I don't know how I'll avoid all that! Oh, I've been eating bananas too. I guess you're not supposed to, but it's one of the few things I can find for a snack that isn't too bad. I bought Sea Salt but I now see that it's the wrong kind because it has additives or sweeteners. No wonder I liked it. LOL! So I gotta find another kind. I did see another kind but it said no iodine, and they said it was important to have iodine on it or something. So I didn't get that. Anyone know why iodine is important? I also have to get other kinds of frozen corn and other stuff that I noticed have additives/sweeteners.
Guest guest
The waffles I've been eating are Vans waffles. No yeast, eggs, I forget what else. And they are yummy. I only eat them when I'm totally tired of having eggs for breakfast. Because I'm not really sure I'm supposed to be eating them. But they are good. And I just put a little bit of butter on them. I don't miss carbs much. I get cravings sometimes but for the most part, I can respect myself much more without them! Whenever I eat anything like spaghetti, mac and cheese, snacks, anything high in carbs, I get out of control. I scarf down WAY too much, and can't seem to stop myself. I'm like an addict. I really hate when I get like that. So I think I'll avoid carbs as much as possible! -------------------------------------------------------------- This is sooo cool for you ! Guest guest
I was tired on Celexa the first 9 months on it. I was on it for a year and a half total. Guest guest
Shauna, One week is way to early to judge any AD, including Lexapro, for effectiveness or sides for most people. The side effects, are likely to disappear or diminish over the next 2 weeks, so stick with the plan to give it the month, at the very least. By the way, 5mg is currently considered a sub-therapeutic dose. I know most people think it is like taking 20mg of Celxa, but that actually is not accurate and no studies have shown effectiveness below 10mg. Lexapro. Now that doesn't mean it cannot work below 10mg., in fact, a number of people seem to have claimed success with that dose. Butif you don't find it helpful, consider increasing it to at least 10mg before switching back to C (of course, wait for the sides from the 5mg to disappear first). Best of Luck. Guest guest
I'm looking forward to hook up on August 5th. Sounds like you are doing fine! Did you get that rash checked out? The pain in the ear will go away soon. I too felt like I had a terrible ear infection in there but after about 2 weeks it was gone all together. The very top section where my stitches were is still tender and I SWEAR my ears are uneven (hubby says they are not LOL). Glad to hear everything is going well. Just keep resting Aug. 5th will be here in no time! Kat 7 days till hook up!!
Guest guest
--- Kat I will let the doctor check it out Friday. It's a littl espot like the size of a dime right under where the tape curled up. Guest guest
Morningsun, I'm happy to hear you had such a successful surgery. Everything sounds like it's pretty normal except for the rash, so yes, please do mention it to your dr. You're heading into a very exciting time coming back to the hearing world, and I'm glad I'll be here to share it with you. You're right about that overwhelming feeling prior to surgery sometimes. I do believe the mind gets overloaded with all the info you're trying to process regarding what to expect from the surgery. Keep us updated and hope you continue to do well. Guest guest
My daughter Molly has been in the helmet for one week now and we are already starting to see a difference. I too have noticed myself looking at babies head more and wanting to tell people that their baby has the most rounded head. I have also noticed people looking at her when we are out and about. That has been the difficult part. Today we got together with friends and their babies are fifteen months and six. I noticed that Molly was behind the six month old and not doing half the things he does. It now makes me wonder if she will behind in all things because of plagio and torticollis. So, today was the most difficult day but besides that things are okay. I just look forward to this ending.
Guest guest
Some days are harder then others. I know it can be hard when people look at your baby because of the band but I just chalk it up to human curiousity. For example, if a teenager with pink hair walks by, you look right? Humans are curious. Most people mean no harm but are curious so I wouldn't worry too much about that, just smile at your baby and at the people around you. I just try to stay positive about the whole thing. As far as developmental, every baby is different and comparing them can make you go crazy. They all seem to have their own path and pace at which they learn. As long as your pediatrician feels that her development is on track, I wouldn't worry. Good luck and I hope today is a better day!!! :-) Sybil Mom to Adam 8 months with DOCbandirishlou13 <irishlou13@...> wrote: My daughter Molly has been in the helmet for one week now and we are already starting to see a difference. Guest guest
I'm so glad you're seeing improvement already. That's great to hear. How old is Molly? I know it's tough not to compare your child to others, I do it all the time. But all babies are different and it may have nothing to do with plagio or tort. My son has/had both and was only slightly slower in walking than my older daughter, who was late in walking and talking and had neither. It's all genetics and environment too, but definitely talk to your ped if you have any concerns. I know it's tough to see people looking at Molly. But my firm belief is that people would be looking at our babies anyway, even without the helmet, because they're just so darn cute! I also am honest enough to say that if I had no idea what plagio was or what the helmet was for, I would be staring too. I wouldn't be doing it meanly, I would just be genuinely curious, as I think most people are. I really thought that people looking at my son would bother me, but as long as I told myself that he's too cute NOT to look at, and people are just curious, it got easier really quickly and I hardly even notice anymore. And in 8 weeks, we haven't had one bad experience. I know it's tough, but hang in there! You're doing a great thing for Molly and in the end, it will all be worth it!
