Guest guest
Can someone please reply to my questions. Basically I want to know if anyone with hypothyroidism here takes antidepressants and if they help for brain fog and feeling out of sorts, in relation to having hypo. Thanks. Guest guest
Hi Chery, Yes, I had to start taking Prozac, My thyroid levels are so called fine????? But still depressed, brain fog, I dont want to be at home, I dont want to be at work, I just dont want to be, My doc has me on 50 mgs prozac, Holy Cows, Something that helps is Provigil and Ativan, Provigil clears your mind, and gives you a lift, Ativan, for anxiety. dont take them together, Atavan and Provigil help with my depression also, Sometime doctors use them for depression, But, My doc and I are going to wean off these meds, starting this Friday, May take a year, So he says, So keep that in mind, some day you may need to stop them, He dose not mind me being on Provigil for life, People with ADD, Narcalepsy, Grave yard shift workers and Day time sleepiness use it, But not every day, Maybe use the antidepressants till your T3 is were it is to be,Ask your doc if maybe you cann use thses others till your thyroid is right..... > > I had to start taking an AD in December and it hasn't helped with the brain > fog or other hypo symptoms that I can tell. Guest guest
I have been hypo for years and last year decided to try antidepressants to see if they would help my energy level, fatigue, and brain fog. They did NOT help significantly, and then later seems like I was back where I started before I was taking them. After 5-6 months I decided to go off them and it took me another 3-4 months to wean myself off. Think carefully before you start them, because weaning was not fun. My personal opinion is that if you truly suffer from depression than they may be necessary. But if it's just brain fog, fatigue, low energy, etc. due to being hypo, the anti- depressants won't help. You're better off focusing on getting your thyroid/adrenals in order. Good luck with whatever you decide, Carol -- In NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS , " kiki_colorado " wrote: > > Can someone please reply to my questions.
