Guest guest
Hi all, I have just received my saliva labs and blood tests and would like some help with interpreting them. I'm diagnoised hypo. Blood tests 2/12/08: TSH, 3rd generation: 0.92 (ref. 0.4-4.5) T4 free: 0.9 (ref. 0.8-1.8) T3 free: 316 (ref. 230-420) Ferritin: 23 (ref. 10-232) - this is up from 9 three months ago; I'm still taking Repliva Vitamin B12 serum: 1269 HIGH (ref. 200-1100) Folate serum: >24 (ref. >5.4 normal) Vitamin D 25-OH Total: 46 (ref. 20-100) Vitamin D 25-OH D3: 42 Vitamin D 25-OH D2: 4 Diagnos-Techs Saliva 1/27/08: fTSH: 55 (ref. normal 26-85) fT4: 0.21 (ref. normal 0.17-0.42) fT3: 0.35 (ref. normal 0.28-1.10) TPO: positive (normal=negative) DOES THIS MEAN I HAVE HASHIS? AM cortisol: 18 Normal (ref. 13-24) Noon cortisol: 10 Normal (ref. 5-10) Afternoon cortisol: 12 Elevated (ref. 3-8) Midnight cortisol: 6 Elevated (ref. 1-4) Cortisol burden: 46 (ref. 23-42) DHEA: 2 Depressed (ref. 23-42) Key: cortisol-DHEA correlation - Stage 3 Maladapted Phase 1 Estradiol: 13 (ref.7-20 luteal) Progesterone: 79 (ref. 65-500 luteal) Free Testosterone: 14 Normal (ref. 8-20) As background, I was diagnosed hypo in 2001 with a TSH of 95! I was on Synthroid up until a few months ago at doseages varying between 100 mcg and 150 mcg. I hadn't been stable for quite a while. I switched to Armour a few months ago after a TSH reading of 12.71 on 10/17/07. While I know that TSH is not a good indicator, it's all I have from that timeframe. I'm currently taking a 105 mg of Armour 5 days a week and 90 mg. of Armour 2 days per week. One other thing to note - I was taking birth control pills for my latest labs (I have just stopped since I would like to be off of all synthethic hormones). So my question, what do I do now? I still feel a bit hypo (tired, cold hands/feet), but am much better than a few months ago. I will continue to work on raising ferritin. I believe that my adrenals need to be addressed but I'm not sure how. Unless I'm confused (which is entirely possible), everything I've read is for low cortisol. What do I do about elevated cortisol? The Diagnos-techs results suggest maybe taking DHEA or pregnenolone or phosphorylated serine derivatives. My DHEA is low, so taking that makes sense, but I'm not familiar with the others. Also, if I take DHEA - how much? when? and how long does it take to raise the levels? Thank you so much for helping me figure out what to do!
