Guest guest
Hi Val and EveryOne, I've had the flu for over a month since the middle of January. Forgot to take the 20mg four times a day that Dr. Jefferries recommends at the beginning of the flu, so it got me good. I've also had a sinus infection for which the doc gave me a course of Amoxicillin which will be finished on Wednesday. Not sure if either the flu or the sinus infection is really gone, - it seems to keep recurring and I can't tell whether it is the flu, the sinus infection, or both, that are still with me. I am confused about stress dosing HC. I usually take 4 Isocort twice a day morning and afternoon. Since getting the flu last month, I did take the HC 20mg/4.day as soon as I remembered. I stayed on that dose for a few days but it had no effect (too late). I didn't want to stay at such a high dose for too long - Jefferies says 2-3 days and reduced slowly to HC 10mg. 4/day and then more recently to 5 mg.4 day and now a bit less. HC 5, 5, 2.5 2.5. I continued to take the eight tabs of Isocort as well as the HC all this time. Still don't know how to count the Cortisol in Isocort! It is my understanding that taking Cortisol will reduce my inflammatory response and somewhat suppress symptoms although the infection may still continue. OTOH taking Cortisol is needed to provide enough Cortisol to convert T4 to T3 and to also help an immune response. I am confused about how to tell how much to take that will support the immune response, and yet not suppress symptoms so much that I can't tell whether or not I still have the infections underneath even though the symptoms are reduced. How do you tell how much to take when an infection lasts so long as this flu? Other people in my local area are also having the flu for two months...people with " normal " adrenal glands...it is hard to get rid of, it seems to keep replicating itself. I want to take enough Cortisol to help my body to get rid of these infections but not so much as to impair my immune response??? Thank you for any help.... Guest guest
On your low Isocort dose I woul sstick with about 20MG HC and drop the Isocort till you are past this. Then you can wean back down to Isocort. 20 mg HC daily will NOT supress your immune system, but more than that if your adrenals are still funciotning much at all will. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/
