Feeling the blues or Sense of doubt.

For Sam, it's great you've had such a fantastic loss in such a short

space of time, but it's also very true that you could be feeling the

post op blues and a little neglected and excluded. These feelings

are all very normal and I remember feeling very excluded from the

family dinner time while on liquid and mushy stages. It is rather

sad and depressing to think we can only " suck soup " and not enjoy the

steak etc. but then we may one day be able to have a small portion of

that steak. It is all part of the learning curve to banded life in

enjoying the company or conversation instead of just the food. Us as

fatties have always preoccupied ourselves with food and the band is

there to finally shift that focus to bigger and better things in life

for us away from FOOD. Many people may not respond to everything

personally but most people scan through the emails and give them some

thought for the day. I have found that if I had a specific question

it has always been answered kindly. Keep up the good work and know

that we are all behind you during these tough times.

Jodie (Tassie) I too had great feelings of doubt and wondered if I

should go through with the surgery. I heard all sorts of stories

about slippages, weight re-gain, reflux etc. But when it all boiled

down I thought to myself, " Karin, you are 35+kgs overweight, can I

get bigger? YES. And can the band give me some hope of a loss no

matter how small it might be, or how slow it might be. And the answer

to myself again was YES. " Even if the band was to stop the weight

increasing would still be a blessing for many people. Some have

extremely quick losses while most lose slow and steady. I looked at

the possiblities of problems but guess what, they are all fixable

problems. The band is not cutting and re-arranging your stomach like

some of the old fashioned type stomach stapling and it is removable

if the case may rise. But in the long run isn't it worth a try.

I'm only 7 weeks post-op and haven't had a fill yet. I'm booked for

Oct 1st for my fill. So far I've lost 7kg which I'm happy about.

Some people may think , " what a piddly amount to lose in seven weeks "

but really I don't give a shit, as long as it's going down. My BMI

at surgery time was 38 and already thats dropped to 36.

So what I'm trying to say is take time out, relax a little and be a

bit kinder to yourself.

Luv Karin

Sorry for raving!
