Should I treat low DHEA and testosterone while on T3

Have just got back from Docs and have found that I have low DHEA and low

testosterone (i am female). He wants me to have 25mg of DHEA and use

testosterone cream. Is this safe and necessary while i am using T3? Will it

help?

I had my adrenals checked a few months back and at that stage they were on the

high side of normal.

The testosterone is wonderful and as you have highish cortils the DHEA

will elp bring it down, BUT I would styart DHEA much lower. say 5mg

daily and gradually increase to tolerance.

Wow i was started right on 35 mg dhea. Seems like Hertoghe has a lot of testosterone as he seems VERY sure in himself and what he is doing with patients. I was ok starting dhea like that, i alsoread it has no side effects. Is this true Val? I am on day 6 with my testosterone gel. Thanks that makes me feel a bit better. If I start on 5mg of DHEA how

often should I increase, my doctor says it can take weeks for the DHEA to have

an effect. Should i take it at a seperate time to T3 or doesn't it matter.

Oh I dont; think it takes weeks ot have an effect! If you are haivng a

BAD effect form ti it can be from the first dose, It takes abotu ONE

week for me to break out in horrid acne (painful oin my hairline) from

it, in two weeks if I continue I get fluid reteniton from it. The good

effects may take several weeks as it must converti to testosterone which

is where MOST it's beneficial effect scome from, btu if in your body it

goes ot estrogne and make sTHTA too high then you have problems In

peopel wiht lwo cortiosl it tensds to go to estrogne, but if cortils is

normal to high it goes to testosteonre more often.

what would you tell someone who has low testosterone , low sex hormones in general...low cortisol at morning and midday and ok at 5 pm and then high at 10 pm...low dhea as well....post menopausal and on thryoid meds....has not had RT3 checked but has some symptoms still of hypo while on NT but cant raise meds cause of heart palps that happen at higher doses...

Depending on their actual cortisol labs, get on adrenal support, TEST a

full iron panel wiht ferritin, and support cortils first.

I had no idea DHEA could cause palpitations and even death (one woman died while on it) - But I've been having these symptoms since before taking DHEA, so....... I don't know? Am I on too much? 35 mg DHEA daily? Why would Hertoghe give me this?

This is scary as my doc just told me to start taking 50mg DHEA per day. I'm

female.. I took one 25mg pill and my heart was busy that night (I took it late).

Haven't taken it since as I want to wait so I can maybe get some blood testing

and don't want any adrenal support to mess with my numbers.

Does the form make a difference... the naturally derivied, or manufactured, vs

the purely synthetically derived?

Sorry.. I'll get back with rT3 soon. I just found out that my rT3 sample got to

sit on a tarmac (broken plane), so I get to redo the draw and try

again...woohoo! I'm redoing the fT3, as well.

Blood tests can be inaccurate! A doctor recently told me my blood level of

testosterone was 658...high for a MALE. It turns out my sample was switched with

someone else's! You might want to re check if the result is way out of range.

50mg a day of DHEA is a lot and will pack a punch.
