Guest guest
My 10 1/2 month old daughter had moderate - severe brachycephaly and began wearing a Starband at 7 1/2 months. I noticed, at about 6 1/2 months, that her smile sometimes appeared crooked. Since the band, she's gotten 5 more teeth (she had 3 already). Since her 4 top teeth have come in, I noticed that the crooked smile appears worse, more often. She doesn't always smile with it crooked, but I notice it more and more in pictures and a little warning bell is going off in my head. It seems like as her brachy is getting better, her smile is becoming more crooked more often. Is this possible? I am not sure what can be done about it, if anything or where to begin. The neurosurgeon and cranio-facial doctor I took her too weren't very helpful regarding using a helmet - both told me that her hair would cover the flatness as she became older but 'if it bothers me' then they'd give me a script for it. So I don't really trust their opinions about this either now. I posted a few pictures in the phots section " Avery G Starband " http://health.ph./group/Plagiocephaly/photos/browse/7abd Could her smile be crooked due to the sensation of her top and bottom teeth coming in possibly or is this something that is a result of the brachy and/or helmet? Thanks!
