Guest guest
Val and Nick, I know that you have said that after clearance, people usuallly need to be on at least 75 mcg of T3. I cleared a few weeks ago, and as I have posted, am doing really well. What I am finding is that I only need about 50-60 mcg per day to keep my temps at a good point. For example, today at 12:30 my temp was 98.8 (I am in day 4 of my cycle which I think means temps are not elevated due to menses at this point). I feel good, I sleep well, energy is good, metabolism is good (and thankfully, the list goes on -- hopefully encouraging to others who haven't cleared yet). By lowering dosage to this point, my heart problems have improved. No longer do I feel a racing heart or tightness in my chest and my pulse rate is also really good at this dosage. Having said all that, what concerns would you have re: being on this low a dose of Cytomel (brand name), if any? Beth S.

On the lower side it is possible that some people would be able to taper off T3 completely if they had a normal thyroid and a high RT3 due to ferritin or cortisol issues, once their RT3 issues were resolved theoretically they could quit thyroid support. This is a rarity though, most of us need to stay on some treatment.
