I belive that the time in the helmet is dependent on a lot of things, age (the younger the less time), severity, and how often your child has growth spurts while in the helmet. As for plagio vs. brachy, I dont know.... Also, just from posts here, it seems that the STARband usually is at least estimated to be a longer time frame. Hi, Like the other poster said, our orthotist told us that brachy takes longer to correct and is harder to get complete correction. My son had severe brachy and wore his Hanger helmet for 3 1/2 months; his CI went from 98% to 85%. He had some assymetry too which completely resoloved. We didn't get complete correction before outgrew his helmet but we were told up front that mid 80's was the best that one can usually expect with an initial CI that high. The did tell us initially that they expected him to wear it somewhere around 4-5 months. His head shape is not perfect, but looks immensely better than it did before, and the residual abnormal shape is not noticeable to anyone else, whereas before it was very obvious.
