Guest guest
Hi Leda: My name is Tiger and I have lost 224 pounds and did it in around 18 months. I am 53 years old and I am now healthy and happy. Tell your husband to take a hike! This is your life not his and you have and deserve the right to enjoy it pain free. My surgeon is Dr. Anthone and I can't say enough good things about him and the hospital he works out of. My stats are below my name for you to read and I have pictures on the list site that Mellie was so kind to put up for me. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions for you. Be strong and know that you are doing what is right for you. By the way I rarely have diarrhea except if I have to much ice cream or eat a fat I am unaccustomed to so big razeberries to them! Besides why would you want to have a procedure done that you may have to have revised down the road! Huggles, Tiger Lake Female 160 lbs. Guest guest
> Hi, Leda, I am pre-op, but I too have over 200 lbs to lose. My Pcp said she would not recommend Fobi or RNY to me because she has not personally had patients with a lot of weight to lose be successful with either procedure unless they have had a revision at some point. She feels the DS is a much better option, and if I use good judgement in my eating habits and get my exercise, that I will not fail with DS and more importantly, not have to go thru it again! Diarrhea has also been one of my concerns. From what people have been telling me, it can be an issue to think about. Just like everything else about this surgery everyone is different, and how you eat can make a big difference. I cant relate to your challenges with your family and the support issue, but this group is the best at providing unending support in every way they can, so you are in the best place you could be. One of my goals is to take my son to Disneyland and be able to enjoy the whole park, rides and all. Maybe I'll see you there. Good luck Sandy L > It's Leda again! I like to be well informed before I do anything. Has any one lost over 200lbs with this procedure? I know this is the surgery for me. I'm waiting for an appointment with the doctor and I'm also working on the insurance. My primary want me to go with DR. Fobi, but with the research that is 70-75% where ds is 80- 85%. Also, fobi 15-30cc opposed to ds 150-200cc not a 8 oz of anything but more realistic. I know some people have diarrhea and others don't. It's a some price if it will resolve it's self in about 6 mos. If anyone has anything that would be helpful, please respond. Oh yea I have some very negative people who don't feel I should have this surgery. They say mean things like what if you die. I tell them I'm dying right now. I walk on a cane.I can work, have asthma induce by my obesity and other personal things. Husband won't support me in anything but say mean things. i don't know????? One happy thought I have is to take my granddaughter to DISNEYLAND ! > and I'm walking through the park. With that note I will end. Guest guest
Leda...if your husband wont be supportive but mean...you need to make yourself a priority and do whats right for you...forget him... I think your granddaughter will be a wondeful movitvator! I'm in the process of beginning the walk to surgery and my reasons for doing the DS is also the sucess rate is better, you are leaving more things normal within your body and just making some adjustments (my interruptation...Lol) and also from all the stuff I've been reading (TONS!!!) many are moving to this in the end....so why not just do it first! I hope you get some support and find something that works for you. Good luck! AJ " There is no long distance about love..
