Guest guest
Just wanted to share my excitement with everyone. My son , just turned 8 months today, just received his DOC Band on April 9 and is doing great with it so far. I was very nervous because I saw that a lot of babies took a few days to adjust. Luckily, we did not have this issue. Since the first day, he has been sleeping great with it and does not seem to be overheated, lets see what happens as it gets warmer. We had our first check up last week and the therapist could already notice a difference in his head shape. We noticed it too, but needed that professional confirmation. I am so happy that results are already starting and hope they keep up at this pace so we don't need a second band. Seeing the improvements helps make the little things seem obsolete, like the stretches, daily head washing, and the extra cleaning responsibility. It just makes me feel reassured that we did make the right decision for his head and that the band really does work. Thanks for letting me ramble on. Guest guest
Some babies do have a hard time sleeping in the band. Nights are generally harder than days. I think they can't get into their comfy position. Most babies do adjust in a week or two, but it can be trying. Some babies never notice the band is, so it is not universal. My daughter was never a great sleeper, and she had her first cold at the same time she got her band. For us we ended up co-sleeping because that made her happy. It doesn't work for everyone though. I would say be patient and try to comfort him as much as possible without taking the band off. If you desperately need sleep, then take if off for a bit. My ortho recommended letting her fall asleep, then putting the band on, but she wasn't a heavy sleeper, so that didn't work for us. We also tried a piece of memory foam cut to the crib size and under the sheet to make the bed less firm. I can't recommend this from a safety perspective (not sure if it increases SIDS risk) but it did help our daughter with naps, and has worked for some other people. Let us know how he is doing, and if his sleep is improving. -christine sydney, 4.5 yrs, starband grad > > My son just got his 2 days ago. I know its not going to be easy to put him to sleep but he screams " bloody murder " at night. we had to revert back to pushing him in the stroller (like we did when he was a newborn). > > During the day he is fine, a little fusssy. Only will nap with the doc band on when we are driving. > > I went back to have cranial tech shave some parts off that was causing some redness. > Before this he would go to sleep with some crankiness but not like this. > Has anyone else experienced this? > > Thanks in advance. >
