Guest guest
I had it on me personally some years ago to see if it would help my headaches. It didn't. But maybe it wasn't a problem cranial sacral therapy could help. I have heard it helps some, and isn't that expensive for a try. It isn't invasive or hurts at all and I had a pretty sensitive head. However, you do have to lay down reasonably still for awhile. If your child can't do that, it might mess up the therapy. Or if he can't stand things around his head (like my older son was). . Guest guest
I'm sure others have felt this, but with this woman we started seeing you can just " sense " a real spiritual warmth from her and her passion for helping children. It's not like a job, but more like a calling. One of the things she said, is that children start to understand what is going on and they do often obey better or don't want to leave. Like someone helping them with a problem they didn't know they had and not sure what's going on, but liking it. The first appointment for my son was on the head and such, and more of getting to know her. He is undersensitve to pain yet when she just barely touched his head he totally reacted. Makes sense that's something is going on. She knew what she was doing with kids. But apparently most of her work she said is through the mouth, guess we'll find out next week. Anyone heard of this? Kari Re: Cranial Sacral Therapy Our experience was different. Was your practitioner an osteopath? Anyway, my son, 4 years old, sat in my lap for the whole treatment. A little more social and one new word after 1st treatment.

Guest guest
Hello Not an answer to your question (we're in the UK) but worth bearing in mind just straightforward cranial osteopathy. We did cranio- sacral and it was lovely but so subtle for Tom. Cranial osteopathy really brings him back to reality even after a couple of 15 minute sessions and you can find a cranial osteopath in most towns and cities. very best Steph (mum of Tom, in the UK) > Hello everyone, > > I've been reading Dr. Upledger's book " CRANIOSACRAL Therapy Touchstone for Natural Healing " and I am very excited about having this treatment done on my kids. Guest guest
There's an Upledger website which (I think) has a list of practitioners. My eyesight (myopia) improved considerably after having CST after a child with ASD wrenched my neck pulling me to the ground by the hair (I blocked him from running into traffic). The eye doctor checked four times because he couldn't believe it had changed that much. At first she had almost odd, involuntary stims during the therapy so I knew it was doing something but I don't know what. And one day she spoke much better on the way home from the therapy and that encouraged me so we went back a few more times but I can't remember ever seeing that repeated on the next few visits. I did help her relax and destress. I dont' think I stayed with it long enough and regular enough to know if it would do more. May try again one day. But it did seem to be the first 2 or 3 visits that had the biggest effect. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
Hey! MY son is 11 months old and has been going to someone who does cranial sacral therapy since april. He doesnt have a helmet yet- I am in process of trying to get him one... anyways I think that cranial sacral therapy has helped my son with getting more range for his tort. does your son have tort??? I know people do that kind of therapy for lots of different reasons... someone in my family did it for autism actually... but I do think it is a good thing. It is hard to see any hard evidence from it because it is so internal, but I could see how it might help with the helmet b/c it think it would help possibly with growth during wearing the helmet; I think that growth/growth spurts is a good thing when wearing the helmet.. hope this helps a little... I LOVE the therapist who does cranial sacral with my son. and he doesnt mind it at all tricia --- andreaccl2002 <andreaccl2002@...> wrote: > Hey! Guest guest
It is an alternative treatment some people use for plagio, either alone, or in conjunction with a band. Some swear it works, but I don't think there are any good studies. Here is a description from upledger.com (go there for more info): CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system. -christine sydney 20 mo starband grad > > > > > Hey! Guest guest
You have to have special training to do CST, but maybe some people combine that with other things like chiro or PT - I'm not sure. I don't think insurance covers it - most people who mention using it say it isn't covered, but it might vary. -christine > > > > > > > > > Hey! Guest guest
Hello all, my hubby and I plan to take our little guy to cranial sacral therapy while he is banded. We are hoping that this will result in him not have the band for too long (6-8 weeks)...Does anyone have any feedback, positive or negative on cranial sacral therapy? Guest guest
Kellee, I'm really glad you asked about Cranial Sacral therapy. I don't know much about it, but my lactation consultant recommended it for our daughter, so I too am looking into it. The consultant said she sends infants who have sucking problems to the therapist, but that she could probably help with my daughter too. My daughter was diagnosed with torticollis, although we are going for a second and third opinion in the next two weeks, because it doesn't seem like that is what she has: She has some cranial and facial asymmetries, but not in the typical way of torticollis, and she has no tight muscles (but some weak ones). So we are still trying to figure out what her issues are. Hopefully nothing serious. But I'll be watching for comments here about cranial sacral therapy! Guest guest
We did CST for 5 weeks right before and then while my son was banded. We went to a highly recommended therapist and unfortunately we saw no results. My son also screamed the whole session each time we went. It was pretty miserable for us! Anyway, I have heard that people have seen results with it so it is worth a try. It may work for you guys.
