Guest guest
Erfa and Naturethroid are both natural dessicated thyroid (NT), containing both T3 and T4. I'd read that Naturethroid is supposed to be less allergenic. http://thyroid.about.com/cs/thyroiddrugs/a/naturethroid.htm I suspect responses are highly individualized; if my Dr. put me on ERFA and I didn't do well, I'd ask to try Naturethroid. Even the tablet's different binders, fillers and coatings may cause people to respond differently. What I have heard probably 20 times is that the " new " Armour (they reformulated it) is the worst of the NT products. Yes, some folks take NT plus T3. This could be during the process of finding their own best T3/T4 balance (if I remember correctly, Val did this for years before going to T3-only). NT plus T3 may also be taken while trying to switch back to NT from T3 after RT3 has cleared. http://thyroid-rt3.com/swapping.htm FYI, Val and Nick both tried to switch back to NT and both found they were better off on T3 only. > > > > Is there a problem with Synthroid other than the fact that it's T4 only? If my doctor decides that, based on my labs, I'm ready to add T4, would Synthroid be appropriate? I know lots of people take Erfa, Naturethroid, etc. But I have a 90 day supply of T3 on hand, shipped recently by mailorder insurance pharmacy. Would taking Synthroid plus my supply of T3 give good results? Or is Synthroid just bad, period? > > > > Peggy > > >
Guest guest
Thanks, Margery--you provide great info, and are a wonderful moderator! I have copied this to my "keep this" folder.
