With an RT3 over range you really need to be on just T3 I would think. From my understanding you can be on just T3 even with Hashi's, as long as the thyroid is suppress it works the same. You will never get rid of Rt3 on dessicated unfortunately since you are continuing to get T4 from your thryoid and the meds.

Hi,If I had my blood drawn in the middle of thyroid dumping, would the rt3 indication be skewed? TSH .01Free t3 3.7 (range 2.3-4.2)Free t4 1.1 (range 0.8-1.18)R3 389 (range 90-350)TPO 1766 (range less than 60)Antibodies 212My doctor is not against doing t-3 only, but she thinks that the test results are more because of the dumping I was doing when my blood was drawn. She is hesitant on putting me on t3 only since I "swing" so much (due to the Hashi), and she also thinks I went up on the dessicated thyroid too quickly. The thinking behind the quick increase (below) was that I was at a limbo-land dose (enough where my own thyroid relaxed but not enough to do the jog)--and that's why my symptoms became so much worse after starting the meds. Here is how I increased (I'm on a compounded dessicated thyroid):Week 1: 15mg once a dayWeek 2: 15mg/am, 15mg/pm(30 total) Next 5 days: 30mg/am,

15mg/pm (45 total) Next 3 days: 30mg/am; 30mg/pm (60 total) Next 2 days: 45mg/am, 30mg/pm (75 total; started really going downhill--likely started the thyroid dumping at this level)Next 9 days: 45mg.am, 45mg/pm (90 total; started HC on fifth day of 90--went up to 10mg of HC within three days) and went even more downhill, more dumping) Been back at 15am/15pm for the last week. Feel better (only in comparison) to than when I was on the higher doses and dumping, but am still way worse in many ways than before I started the medicine.Other info:Stopped HC on Tuesday (have always taken other adrenal support)My morning basal temp has always been 98.00--even pre-medsBeen doing the afternoon temps for last 10 days, and they are what people aim for--usually around 98.4 mid morning, going up to 98.6 mid afternoon, coming down again in the evening; average over 10 days: 98.5So, in light of all of the above, go

more slowly on increases for the dessicated and redraw blood before trying to go just on t-3?Thanks.

If there was a dump influencing things greatly then FT3 and FT4 would

have both been very high.

That RT3 is horrible and so are the TPO antibodies.

Going T3 only will help both. There is a very low chance of natural

helping the RT3

Are your temperature averages OK having stopped HC?

Is your ferritin at least 70??

Kitty,

I have to disagree with you on this. I am taking 2 grains NT and

25mcg of T3 to reduce my RT3 issues. This was suggested to me by Val T. and has

been working very well. My ratio is now 17 and was previously 6. I am feeling

great and able to function throughout the day instead of dragging.
