Guest guest
I would do the tort stretches 5 times a day and work on all the active strengthening moves you can. I know the stretches require her to be out of her band. The active strengthening moves she can be in her band. Here are some tips na, DOC Grad X2 Feb 04, Tort Resvoled Kiersten, DOC Grad April 06, Tort Resolved www.thefilyaws.com/plagio/plagio.html > > Ok, I'm probably jumping the gun a bit here... but yesterday we had our first follow-up visit with the craniofacial specialist yesterday since my dd Leila (who is now 9 months old) got her helmet a little over a month ago. The tech who adjusts the helmet every 2 weeks recently said that Leila would probably only need her helmet for another 4-6 weeks, so when the doctor took a look at her I was expecting him to say basically the same thing. Instead, he told us to come back to see him in 6 weeks and we'd decide if she's done with the helmet completely or needs another one. YIKES!! I think he saw the expression on my face when he said that because then he added " well, in 80-90% of all cases a 2nd helmet isn't necessary " but he said that the cases where it is are often similar to Leila's (her PT says that her range of motion to the tort side is greatly improved but she still has a fairly significant tilt that we need to continue to work on). She is still pretty flat on the left side in the back and it's the tightness of that muscle which is causing both the asymmetry and the tilt. So... here's my question (and this is really just hypothetical at this point, but I'd like to get some opinions from others who've been there)-- wouldn't it be better to go back to using the TOT collar than to get a 2nd helmet if it's the tilt that is causing the asymmetry/flatness back there? I mean, what good is a second helmet (which we'd once again have to pay for out of pocket) if we aren't really doing anything about the tilt? (We can't use the TOT collar while she has the helmet and we tried kinesiotaping but it was irritating her skin and wasn't staying on very well.) I brought this up with our PT and she seemed to agree with me... what do you all think? > > Alison > mom to Leila, born 9/25/05 (tort/plagio, STARband 6/5/06) > Boynton Beach, FL > _________________________________________________________________ > Try Live.com: where your online world comes together - with news, sports, weather, and much more. > http://www.live.com/getstarted >
Guest guest
sorry forgot the link http://f3.grp.fs.com/v1/QEm5RNxUodhTLOBXmsEdxojshSdK-sIXDoEzWdR3Y4dIJ1d0mec72PTM-C6ULaTqM92WXVbddeeAVGF8bBE/Torticollis%20Help/Torticollis%20Stretching.doc A lot can happen in 6 weeks with tort. You can see great improvement. The problem with unresolved tort at graduation is that the infant is at increased risk for regression - so rebanding provides extra protection. However, at her age she could see so much correction in 6 weeks that a 2nd band wouldn't even have anything to hold or correct. Don't worry about it just yet and concentrate on that tort. > >> > Ok, I'm probably jumping the gun a bit here... but yesterday we > had our first follow-up visit with the craniofacial specialist > yesterday since my dd Leila (who is now 9 months old) got her helmet > a little over a month ago.
