Guest guest
thanks josiemy RT3 was 33 and my free T3 was 255, Free T4 was 1.2, Ferritin 35 and Hgb 11.4....these were done 1.5 wks ago... I can't even function and I am so frustrated. I asked my endo if my ferritin could be why i have had such a hard time adjusting and she said it wasnt that bad!! So frustrated!!To: rt3_t3 Sent: Sat, May 15, 2010 4:29:10 AMSubject: RE: new to this Hi I am still learning but here's what I think might be going on. We despeartely need good ferritin levels in order to properly utilize thyroid hormone into the cells. If you don't have good levels ( like when your level was 35) T3 couldn't eneter your cells and so instead is was then just pooling in your blood. and causing all those horrible symptoms especially shaking. I think first things first is to get a full iron panel done (inc ferritin) and then you could post the results here and people can advise you on how much iron to take if needed. Also could you give us the ranges for your RT3 result and did you have a FT3 done at the same. If so you could post that result as well with ranges and we can help you work out the ratio. I hope I can get some insite. I had thyroid cancer 4 years ago, cancer free and have taken synthroid. I was fine until 11 weeks ago when I had my third baby. I lost a lot of blood and had a hemoglobin of 6 and now a Ferritin of 35. I was unable to take my synthroid afterwards and noone could figure it out. Finally I ended up with excrutiating abdominal pain, undiagnosed for 2 weeks..I was unable to even sit up. They did an unneeded surgery, etc. No answers. Finally my internist gave me a shot of steroids and I started to get better. I think my Iron was so low it wouldn't help my synthroid and then my adrenals blew because I was so sick. Currently I am on Synthroid becasue the Armour was wigging me out with the cortef they gave me. I have become extra sensitive to all meds and vitamins. My RT3 is 33 and my Vit D, Ferritin are low. I just got normalized on Free T3 and T4, but I am still really bad. I have shaking, muscle weakness, pain, highs and lows. I take cortef 2.5 once a day and sometimes twice a day. I am pursuing diagnostic tests soon, but i don't think my doctors really know what they are doing. Any insite???? Get a free e-mail account with Hotmail. Sign-up now. Guest guest
Ferritin of 35 is very bad You want it to be at least 70 but 100 is best. Do you have ranges for your other tests? kitty To: RT3_T3 Sent: Sat, May 15, 2010 4:26:40 PMSubject: Re: new to this thanks josie my RT3 was 33 and my free T3 was 255, Free T4 was 1.2, Ferritin 35 and Hgb 11.4....these were done 1.5 wks ago...
