Guest guest
Not sure if it will be the same for you but I went with Midwest Orthotics for my sons banding and they did the cast and scan. They told me that the FDA was trying to get approval to only scan and not cast but it was still being studied. As far as I know, I could be wrong, but they made it sound like you still have to be casted to create the band. They should supply the maker with the scan also just to be more accurate and to be included in the study so that one day you won't have to cast but be able to make the band just from the scan. Guest guest
Hi , My daughter, Olivia, was scanned instead of casting at the CT in VA. They have been scanning instead of casting for about three months now. I have not had the experience of casting however, so I can't comment on that. The scanning that we did with CT went wonderfully! We had to strip her down to her diaper and then they put this meshy looking stocking over her head and snipped the front to expose her face. From there they sat her on a stool, held her and scanned her head(which was actually like just taking her picture again). It took all about 5 minutes. When we went back in two weeks to pick up the band they had the mold of her head on a stick (best way I can describe it and the band fit perfectly. I agree with the other ladies that CT is a highly trained and professionally facility. They certainly would not be scanning if not qualified or proficient enough to do so. We have absolutely no regrets in doing the scanning! Amber Olivia -born 6/30/07 DOC Band 01/31/08 Aidan - born 6/30/07 improved w/repo! No DOC Band
