Guest guest
Hi, My daughter tried the Starband, but it was very heavy and caused some red marks that were concerning for potential pressure sores. After two days and several adjustments by our orthotist, we made an appt at CT for the DOCband. My daughter has been wearing her DocBand since Tuesday, and there is a world of difference in the comfort, weight, size, and pliability. Although she had some redness, it all disappeared w/in an hour. She sleeps great in it and even allowed me to put it back on her while asleep the first day (during a skin check). She also perspires less because it is more open on top, around the cheeks, and around the ears. There are some great photos in the file section of the website submitted by a mother in a similar situation from 2005. They are photos comparing her son's Starband vs. Docband. She applied makeup to the inside of his head to compare the pressure points. You should check them out. In support of Starband, I did call the customer service representative and explained our situation with Starband, and they have been very accomodating and understanding. Hope this helps. Hi everyone,We have our 2nd opinion visit next Tuesday with Dr Vicari at Childrens Hospital, and of course I am no closer to knowing for sure if we are going to go ahead with a helmet/band. But I wanted to ask for opinions on the Docband versus the Starband. Is there anyone out there that is very unhappy with how either works/fits their child? We did the consult with Cranial Tech already, and Dr Vicari's office uses a Starscanner, so I am assuming he uses the Starband... Any advice if we do decide to do this? Guest guest
Hi, My son has been in the Starband for about 3 weeks now and he is doing great. I was amazed at how light it is and how well he adjusted to it. He doesnt mind having it on one bit in fact when I take it off for a bath or to get him dress and it is in arms reach he trys to put it back on. Or if its not in arms reach he will just play with his hair. I am very happy that we choose the Starband over the Docband. If i had to choose over I would do the same.
