Guest guest
I understand your concern, but would tend to think that if they are starting to implement the scanning, that the staff, as well as those who create the bands at the main location, have been trained thoroughly. Cranial Technologies is a famtastic company and really care about babies.Thouugh, my son did a cast (and an exit cast) way back in 2000, so maybe someone who has had experience with both could chime in...Take care.mom to Quinn, born11/99, DOCband graduate for scaphocephalic (long and narrow) head shape 10/00>------- Original Message ------->From : [mailto:Mitchandjim@...]>Sent : 2/7/2008 11:44:05 PM>To : Plagiocephaly >Cc : >Subject : RE: Casting verus scanning...>>Hi again, one more question...If we do band at CT, they are rolling out their new scanning process in about 1 1/2 weeks. Is there any advantage in quality of the helmet with the casting versus the scanning. I guess i am just concerned that since the scanning is new their that the helmet might not fit correctly if they are not used to the process. Would you think that one way would be better than the other? Has anyone here used the scanner at CT and had good or bad results? I know it may seem silly, but if there is only a week difference, I could go either way with the process. I just know they have been casting for so many years and have it down to an art...and the scanning is just so new...Any thoughts? Thanks all!For more plagio info
Guest guest
I hate to say this, but the scanning is kind of a no brainer. Just about anyone can do it, although the lady that did ours was a medical photographer (she did the photos as well) :0) The baby sits in the middle of a bunch of cameras and they all snap a picture at the same time. It is all controlled by a computer program that then shows a 3-D image of your childs head, I got to watch it map out my ds's noggin, pretty cool. But, if there is an error they see it right away and snap another pic/scan. Then all the CT's send the info to the same place where all the DOC bands are made, from cast or scan. If it is only a week and half, I would just wait and get the scan done. Guest guest
Thanks guys, Yes...if anyone has experience with the scanner at CT, or with both, please let me know how you think it went. I would love to avoid the casting for the scanner...but not at the risk of problems from a new process like a helmet not fitting right, you know? Anyone had a scanner process at CT, I understand some of them have been using them already... > > I understand your concern, but would tend to think that if they are starting to implement the scanning, that the staff, as well as those who create the bands at the main location, have been trained thoroughly. Guest guest
The scanner is really easy, takes about 2 min. and his helmet fit perfactly, just a few minor adjustments.
