Guest guest
As it stands right now we'll have one banded baby. Eli's pre-cert is being worked on and the good news is that our insurance covers 100%. The therapist really feels that even if we are aggressive with repo and neck stretches for a month or so, his level of severity will still require him to be banded. Within this last week I've noticed the plagio is now affecting the symmetry of his ears. Well, lack thereof at this point. , on the other hand, will have a second consult in a month. We're going to focus on repo, stretching excercises and tummy time and see if his scaphocephaly improves. He's also got some slight plagio on the left side with minimal asymmetry of his ears. If he gets worse or doesn't have any improvement then we'll have him banded too. So now it's a waiting game for the call to bring him up to be casted which I'm not looking forward to at all. How bad is it really or does it just depend on the baby?
Guest guest
Who did you see at CT? did the casting for my son Logan and she was really quick...less than 10 minutes. I think it totally depends on the baby as for how casting will go. You could probably predict based on your sons personality. My son screamed the whole time but recovered very quickly and enjoyed the bath after. Guest guest
The casting really isn't THAT bad. I mean, it's no walk in the park, but I guess it's best to expect the worst and if it goes better than expected, you're golden. How old is Eli? You can give him a bottle, pacifier, sippy cup or lollipop while they do it, if that would help him. They lay down for the first part, I think they put 3 strips of the plaster across the forehead and over the front part of the head, down over the ears. Then once that hardens, they sit them up and do 4 more strips over the back of the head. The whole thing really only takes 10 minutes or so. It might seem like forever at the time, but it really isn't. The CT we went to had musical toys too, so if Eli likes music, maybe you can play a CD or something (it would be worth bringing a CD player to the casting if it's something he really enjoys), or sing to him, whatever sooths him. Good luck! I hope you're successful with 's repo! Jake-19m (tort resolved/rt plagio/DOCBand 10 weeks) Jordan-4 > > As it stands right now we'll have one banded baby. Guest guest
Casting was not too bad, my husband stayed with the baby and the ortho. This way I didnt freak everyone out. It wasnt too bad for them and over very fast. The baby got a bath after and that was that. Good luck and glad you went for the consult.
