Dear ,

{{{{{ }}}}} Sounds like, in my own humble opinion, that you

need to visit another surgeon.

Take good care and keep your chin up.

This was the surgeon? No, I haven't heard of this. It may be that you

had a consultation with a PCP prior to referral? Some PCPs don't know a

thing about the surgery and the outcome, and it sounds as though this

man might be one of them. If he's a surgeon, I'd definitely find another

one to operate on me. You're only hungry all the time if you have a

staple disruption or if you choose to eat sugar carbs.

Hello all,

I went for my consultation 1/23 I brought my hubby along as he has

not been very thrilled with my decision to have the surgery because

he thinks I'll die. I was so disappointed with the visit. It was like

the Dr. was on my husbands side! Telling me it's not a quick fix and

how I should go to some " Fit for Life " center.

Is it normal for the doctor to try to talk you out of having the

surgery on your first visit? Was he really just trying to see if I

was really serious?

He was telling me also that some people that have this surgery are

still hungry all the time as if they had thier whole stomach intact.

Has anyone ever heard of this?

HIya Chloe, *wavs*

A size 4? Like in FOUR? Like in no numbers before that? *mind boggles*

LOL! Sounds like you're doing everything right to me! Congrats on your

progress and welcome!

Hey everyone! My name's Chloe and I'm new to this group. Last year, I

lost 23.5 pounds over the course of five months, going from 165 to

141.5 pounds (I'm 5'4 " ). I went from a size 8 to a size 4. I did it

through healthier eating and doing cardio 3-5 times a week. After the

end of those five months (by the beginning of 2003), I got really

sick of dieting and exercise and I started to just maintain, even

though I wanted to lose more.

Now I'm trying to lose the last of the weight. I don't really have a

goal weight because I'm already in a healthy BMI range. But, I still

have problem areas (my arms and stomach, mainly). I started to

incorporate weight training 2 times a week and it has made all the

difference. I've been at it for about six weeks and I'm finally

starting to see the benefits.

I had stopped weighing myself because I figured I would probably gain

weight from building muscle and get discouraged if I saw that on the

scale. But people have been telling me that I look a lot smaller, so

this morning I decided to check the scale. I've lost another 4

pounds, going from 141.5 to 138.5! I'm so proud of myself because

with the extra muscle, I've lost even more fat than 4 pounds! It's

really given me an extra boost of motivation and I feel like I'm

doing it the right way.

###########that is about my goal. i was only aiming for 40-50 but i

##########even if you don't think about food untill around noon eat

fruit or yogurt for breakfast. your body needs fuel to start out the

day. you wouldn't drive to work on empty gas tank don't drive your

body on an empty fuel tank. i had problems with this and now it is a

your body going and motivated to burn calories. gets your metabolism

going.

@##############walking is great. I do some weights every other day

and att least you are ddoing something and doing weights helps burn

your caloires. i walk ten minutes on all three breaks at work and

then i also walk at home. walking is v ery good and once you get to

walking and lose weight it will be easier to do other things. it's

difficult for me right now too. i can do swimming and ride mybike

and roller blade and walk but it's difficult to do my step or

aerobics.

Lue Anne,

Welcome to this group! You have found a wonderful place to receive support

and encouragement and lots of great ideas for how to make WW fit into your

life. I've come to be such a believer in Weight Watchers, and like you I

KNOW it's a better alternative than the surgery. Best wishes to you for

success with WW!

who can homeschool her 2 children, can do anything. I have great admiration and

I just went back to WW after being away for 8months. When I first joined

Welcome Danny

I had that " fighting for air " early on when I had such a great degree

of bulbar symptoms. I believe it is the muscles in the bronchioles

not allowing full expansion. It also makes you fight for air to

speak with as well. Are you taking baclofen or Zanaflex yet?

You might want to check out the exercises under Files in the column

on the left...speech and swallowing exercises.

Glad you found us. This group is very helpful and supportive.

Hi , No Blake hasn't had a biopsy done. The doctor at this

time advised against it. Blake has full kidney function. I don't

know what his protein spill was. The first 2 time we did a

urinalysis they was protein in the urine. And if i'm reading this

ua report right it says Protein 30mb/dl. I haven't a clue what that

means still learning. When we did the 24 hour urine everything was

good, no protein spill. The nephrologist will see us again in

July, and before that visit we will do another 24 hour urine. Today

was Blake's first day back at school after visiting with the doctor

and being placed on medication. He call me at work around noon,

saying he wasn't feeling well and was tired. I check him out of

school came home and let him rest while I fix him food. After that

I took him back to school to finish out the remained of the day. He

has said the medication makes him tired. I'm hoping he will learn

to adapt to this,(it is still new to us as the 2nd opinion was just

confirmed on 4-1-05). I can feel for this boys going thru the day

tired. As the saying goes one day at a time. The strange thing of

this all is I have a friend whom I work with that has this. He has

been a big help, when we get time to talk, with our jobs. We work

for the same company, but in different departments. What about

's protien spill? Does he have any kidney function loss? I

also want to say thanks again, talking to another parent who's in

the same situtation as I am has helped. Thank You Tammy

Hi Tammy, Your welcome, s protein spill started at 16,000 miligrams and

as of yesterday he is now down to 5,200mg, I am so thrilled, its been along time

since we made this kind of progrees. His neph says it the iv solumderol that he

responds best to. He is also on cozaar (bp med) and prednisone as well. I feel

so bad for Blake having being so fatigued, my son has his good and bad days to,

and just seeing him trying to keep up with his friends his hard because he gets

so exhausted. I am so glad that Blake has his full kidney function and no

protein loss. Is he on other medications beside the enavalpril? Thank you

I'll second that. I think I would not have nearly as much understanding

of what my daughter goes through, and what I should prepare for, if I

had not been reading Listen-Up. It's made me a better parent for sure.

I'll third that! (can you third something?!) I'm lucky to have

living just up the road from me but in general, where we live is rural

and deaf/hoh kids are pretty scattered so there's not that many

opportunities for face to face get togethers with other parents. This

list always has made me feel connected. And I know if I don't know

something, I can ask and no one will make me feel stupid!

Hi and welcome! Actually almost everyone in this

group seems to be on unlikely side of the " odds " when

diagnosed. Don't you wish it worked this good on the

Hi, I have been on the NTH Adrenal group for 7 months. I am currently taking

Isocort 4-3-2-1 and Naturethroid 1 grain. My temps the last three days were

96.8, 96.7, 97.7. I recently had the following labs:

Reverse T3 25 (11-32)

Free T3 3.7 (2.4-4.2)

NTHA group sent me over here because they think my ratio is too low. They also

think I need to be on HC. So, I am going to work on getting the HC. But, I

need some direction on how to proceed from here. I read all the Q and A on the

website Nick put together.

I will schedule an appt with the doc to ask for T3 only, but feel like I need

some study or something more official to explain to my doc that I really do have

a RT3 issue. Any thoughts?

Should I totally drop my Naturethroid even before I start T3 only?

TIA, Aimee
