Guest guest
Kuke, Great to hear your situation is stable enough not to need monthly visits! Let's hope they can eventually forget about you completely :-) Pierre New Lab Results > > > So finally, my monthly visits are coming to an end. Guest guest
Congratulations on the great results Luke! I know how those mixed emotions go...I'm at 80% crescents and only take the 'improvement' from the prednisone as sort of a stay of execution. I was very excited to go from monthly visits to every 3 months though. :-) Figure if I can hold out for at least 5.5 more years my oldest daughter will be able to drive me the 45 minutes to the nearest dialysis clinic. At 50% you have a lot of mileage left in those kidneys....hopefully your labs will stay stable for a long time to come. Amy G. New Lab Results So finally, my monthly visits are coming to an end. The protein and blood in my urine is slight and for the first time in a year and half, my creatine is below 2. I personally am rather excited about this since it's more than a point improvement since this time last year. (Last year 2.8, Today 1.6). I'm getting placed back on the Lotesin (sp?) and Cozaar combo that rocked my K to the unspeakable levels I spoke of last year. Though my prognosis is still very poor (50% cresents) I'm responding to the outragously expensive cellcept treatment. So yea.....I think. Guest guest
Jozef it's just the ratio of crescent scarred glomeruli you have. Since you had 7 out of 32 with crescents that would translate into roughly 21% scarring. When they did my biopsy 19 out of 20-25 glomeruli showed crescents....giving them a rough estimate of about 80% scarring. Hope that clears it up. Having crescents is one of the many indicators they use for your prognosis. Amy G. New Lab Results > > > > So finally, my monthly visits are coming to an > end. Guest guest
Yes, it's possible for crescents to disappear on a repeat biopsy later on. It doesn't necessarily mean the IgAN is gone though, but it's certainly a good sign if the person was thought to have rapidly-progressive IgAN. We have to keep in mind that not very many IgAN patients get repeat biopsies, so, the value of this kind of information is kind of limited.
