Hi Josie,

Every single doctor i have seen except one has treated me like a hypochondriac.

They look down on you and offer you anti depressants. I have seen it all. My

current doctor is a Bio identical hormone doctor and he believes what i tell him

and goes against the modern medical system. He knows that much of the time

standard testing can't pickup the issues. Unfortunately, he doesn't believe in

RT3 and only prescribes dessicated thyroid. So i have had to do a lot on my own.

Regarding the resistance, yes thyroid resistance can occur separate and they can

also co exist from my experience. Dr Starr does a lot of work in this area and

he classifies a second group of thyroid patients as Type 2 Hypothyroidism where

the body isn't able to use the hormone effectively.

My history indicates that i was born with moderate resistance. Things like

constant infections as a child, cold sensitivity, dry skin, inability to sweat,

morning fatigue etc. Over time the body up regulates adrenal function increasing

cortisol etc. Increased FT4 is then converted to RT3. RT3 can be made as a

result of many different causes so it would be more than likely tissue

resistance and RT3 would exist together.

This is just what i have discovered after all my work, things like ferritin,

B12, cortisol haven't caused me to become hypothyroid. I developed symptoms when

i was a child despite normal labs. There isn't many other conclusions to be

made. Thyroid resistance is a clinically recognized condition. It is however not

screened for regularly and lesser degrees of it are not considered.

Good luck in you journey, you can contact me on my hotmail if you want to talk

more i don't check this very often.

your ideas? I have found they are still treating me like a child and just won't

listen!

have thyroid hormone resistance AND RT3 issues. Or have thyroid hormone

resistance and not have RT3 issues. Is that right?
