Wow, Val! That's quite a story! I hate when people have to go through this kind of mess! It's good to know that things get better, though. I know it's a journey. I've had a long one myself. I had mercury poisening years ago, and I suspect low thyroid, but was never treated for it. Then my adrenal glands got hammered by tons of stress for a period of 10 years, and doc put me on Isocort and 1/4 gr of Naturethroid. Must have been an insult to my system....that low amount, because I crashed in March beginning with the shortness of breath or air hunger, and it has progressed (to new doctor taking me off of any thyroid and me having rt3) to extreme fatigue and depression and lack of desire to do anything but lie in bed. Waiting for the Cytomel to come in is the hardest part for me, because I can't even start

to get to feeling better until it does! I feel like my doctor will put me on Cytomel herself when the labs come in, but that will still probably be next Monday, and you know how it is when you want to get better.....you want to start yesterday!

Thanks for all of your hard work and helping people. There needs to be Vals and Nicks around. Would love to be one of them helping people but have to be helped myself first! There are many books that need to be written, still!

I think aldosterone needs to be checked in a specific time of the month and maybe no salt a day before or something like that. Take Val's instructions before taking the test. Hope you are on the way to get on the right track! To: RT3_T3 Sent: Thu, June 3, 2010 8:26:59 PMSubject: Re: Long, but please help! Two months after clerance and still not feeling good

I have been reading about aldosterone and I am just astonished at how my present symptoms fit much more with low aldosterone than with high... My blood pressure is very low, was 95/56 yesterday at midday (my BP has never been high, but it is usually 11/70 or so). Pulse is high (up to 120), particularly when I stand up. If I lay down I am quite O.K., but the very thought of standing up tires me. And I am feeling the heat very much, I just can't face it.

However two months ago (just after clearance) I got these labs:

Aldosterone: 309 pg/ml (10-105)

renin: 0.47 ng/ml/h (0.4-1.9)

I will test again, though, together with the rest of labs that Val has suggested.

High aldosterone absolutely causes high BP. I would think this wa lab

error as the ranges are not even near any I have seen and I have seen

alot of aldosterone testing. Usually you ned o do it the first 2 days of

your menstrual cycle, and salt fast 24 hours before the test. Take it

sitting and make certain you are up at least 2 hours before the test

andget it as close ot 8 AM as oyu can.
