Hi Phoebe

I'm still learning but I'll see if I can help

His FT3/RT3 ratio is

440/17 =25.8

It should be above 20. So his ratio is good

From my understanding a low TSH can indicate another problem such as low ferritin. The thing I think he really needs to have done is a full iron panel including ferritin. Ferritin is key it helps the thyroid hormone to be properly utilized into the cell. Just because he has a high FT3 blood result we don't actually know how much of it is getting into the cells

When the results come through, post them here and we can help you interpret them

A good way of telling if someone is hyper is temperature and pulse and also symptoms such as feeling jittery, sweating, palpitations, diarrhea etc. Normally one will have a high temp and fast pulse if you have gone hyper

Have you got any of your son's pulse/temp results?

What medication is he on, if any?

Did he take any meds on the day of the blood draw?

What are his symptoms?

Hope this helps

Josie

TSH .78 Range .49 - 4.67Free T4 .93 Range .78 - 2.19Free T3 4.4 Range 2.0 - 4.4RT3 17 Range 11 - 32Total T4 6.3 Range 4.5-12.5Total T3 145 Range 80-200I am totally confused. The low TSH and high FT3 would indicate hyperthyroid, but I read hyperthyroid would have a high FT4 not a low FT4? So, is he hypo or hyper?A
