Guest guest
I am sorry to report that I received the same bad news from UHC. I wrote a lengthy appeal letter, too, with scientific evidence, etc. and they still denied it. I got so angry and frustrated with them. Fortunately, my husband switched jobs, and our new insurance carrier covers the helmet. I know this doesn't help you any, but I truely do understand your frustration. We lost 2 precious months of banding due to waiting for responses from them, just to get denied twice. My suggestion is if it is at all financially feasible, get the helmet now, and worry about the reimbursement later. I know that others have fought UHC and have had success. Hopefully they have some suggestions. Good luck. Mom to , 9.5 months, 1 week in Hanger helmet --- jrmcgrath71 <mcgrathjk@...> wrote: > We received a denial from United Healthcare. Guest guest
I also had a verbal denial and when I called, I was told that since it is an exclusion, they would not offer an appeal. I may still try to go through the motions. They were clear that the policy is written and it is a contract between UHC and the employer, not the employee. They also said that they have never seen anyone "win" an appeal in this situation. Let me know if you do appeal and how it goes. Help!!! United Healthcare Denial We received a denial from United Healthcare. It indicates "orthotic appliances that straighten or re-shape a body (including some sorts of braces)" are excluded from coverage.Has any one had success in the appeals process with United Healthcare for this specific denial? Any help you could offer would be most appreciated. Thanks,JeffFather to 8 months old
