Guest guest
My experience is slightly different in that I was desperate to band my son, but I couldn't get anyone to listen to me for the longest time. So by the time I got the prescription, I couldn't get him casted fast enough. I am amazed at how easy a transition it was for both of us. He slept in it the first night and started wearing it 23 hours on day 2 with no problems. Our first trip in public was to the grocery store, and it was totally fine. Once I got that first outing out of the way, all the others have been no problem at all. I don't even notice people staring and if I do, I don't take offense, because I'm just trying to do what is best for my son, and it took me so long to get anyone to listen to me, that at this point, I don't even care what other people think. He's also in preschool and his little friends that can talk call it his " hat " and the teachers were so supportive. He's been in it for almost 9 weeks and the time has seriously flown by. I'm actually starting to get a little anxious because we're more than halfway done and I hope we see more improvement. He is growing slower because of his age, so our expectations are realistic, but I'm not ready for it to be over yet. Again, it's a tough decision for everyone. But making the decision is really the hardest part. I would definitely suggest making the decision sooner rather than later, because he is slightly older, and if you put it off too long, the results will not be as significant. Good luck!
