Guest guest
Welcome. We just went to Cranial Tech and I basically had my mind made up that if they said he'd benefit from banding that we'd band (although that was a 2nd consult...first at 3 months, second at 6.5 months...head shape stayed the exact same based on measurements). > > Hi, everybody, > > My son's pediatrician is recommending a helmet for my almost-5- month > old. Guest guest
Hi Shana. It sounds like the specialist is an orthotist and would probably work with something like the Starband or Hangar band. Many people go to orthotists for helmets. I have an orthotist that uses the Starband. I would say that you should try to check out both clinics if possible and see how you feel with the ortho's. Guest guest
Hi Shana, Your concerns are very justifiable, and you should not stop questioning until someone can explain it to you properly. I had used an orthotist in Brooklyn, Dr. Silberman (www.kidisplint.com), and she explained everything really well. She is an orthotist, surgical PA, and has several other degrees I can't remember. She specializes in cranial remolding, and she has personal experience with her own child. It pays to speak to a person that can give you the personal experience, and medical standpoint. For a real medical consultation, you should see a neurosurgeon, but she can explain it to you better. I went with the staband from orthomerica, and it worked quickly and smoothly. There are many types of helmets to use, but after all my research, it seemed like the most practical approach. Best of luck. > > Hi, everybody, > > My son's pediatrician is recommending a helmet for my almost-5- month > old.
