Guest guest
Hi Val, You responded to the message below by saying, in your opinion, it would be safest to drop from 80mcg of 'natural' compounded T3 down to 60mcg when I switched to Tertroxin after being without T3 for one day, which was meant to be on Tuesday. However, my doctor did not write me a script and fax it to my pharmacy on Tuesday, nor today, despite the fact that I was told on both days that he would definitely do it!! (I have been told this since last Thursday!!). I am assuming it is safe to drop from 90mcg of T3 to nothing abruptly?!?! Anyway, since I have been without T3 for 3 days, do you think it's still ok to go back on 60mcg of Tertroxin when I get my script tomorrow? (I have an appointment with him tomorrow). Or do I have to start all over again at 20mcg? Once I am back on the lower dose, do you still recommend holding the dose once I get to 80mcg for one week then increasing by 10mcg per week thereafter? (This will take me three weeks to get back to where I was last friday). I have a feeling my Doctor will say it stays in your system and not to worry about it (I may be wrong). Perhaps this is true? I just don't know. Very annoyed at him despite the fact he is busy! Thanks for your help, Alana > > Hi everyone, > > I have been taking compounded 'Natural T3' capsules(apparently it is bio-identical/synthetic - still haven't been able to get an answer from my pharmacy) since discovering I had an issue with reverse T3 in mid May. > > I was taking compounded natural desiccated thyroid from early march until then (but only got up to 1.5 grains - long story). > > Since starting on T3 I have managed to increase it from the initial dose of 40mcg daily to 90mcg daily without bad symptoms (except an increase in headaches, aches and pains in feet and legs, which has reduced now, and lower back ache were noticeable). (ie - is it safe to start on 80mcg straight off or start on a lower dose and work my way up again? etc). > > Thank you so much for your help. Guest guest
Once you have been on T3 for about a month it is no longer safe to JUST stop it. This is due to the fact that it totally suppresses T4 so you have NOTHING once it leaves your body and Myxedema becomes a real possibility. I would take something. Even natural thyroid has SOME T3 init and would be better than nothing. I do not think you are in danger of dying form this as even the opwrst Hashi Thyroi dis able to make SOME thyroid hormones rather quickly, but you will definitly start feleing reall y bad and can totally undo any good you have done for your adnrelas. > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > I have been taking compounded 'Natural T3' capsules(apparently it is bio-identical/synthetic - still haven't been able to get an answer from my pharmacy) since discovering I had an issue with reverse T3 in mid May. Guest guest
Thankyou - the thought of taking my left over NDT did cross my mind, I will do that next time (if there is a next time - I won't let my T3 run out and rely on getting a script in time from my doctor anymore though). I have been to my doctor this morning and picked up my script and it has 2 repeats. His excuse was he was busy - not too happy but he did apologize in the end. I was happy to discover he is happy for me to follow the regime suggested by http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ even though it seems to differ from what he usually does - adding SRT3 to NDT. Got to give him a lot of credit for that. I have been told to drop my dose back to 50mcg then increase it by 20mcg a day until I get back to 90mcg (where I was last friday - I took 80mcg over the weekend then nothing on mon, tues or wed). I thought, perhaps, I should do this a little slower. What do you think? Guest guest
A little slower may not be essential, but it can't hurt. > > > > > > Hi Val, > > > > > > You responded to the message below by saying, in your opinion, it would be safest to drop from 80mcg of 'natural' compounded T3 down to 60mcg when I switched to Tertroxin after being without T3 for one day, which was meant to be on Tuesday.
