Guest guest
Hi - Thanks for your reply. The rash is under the band, specifically on the side of her face where the helmet comes down in front of the ears. I will try the hydrocortizone. Thanks so much! christineashok <christineashok@...> wrote: Hi ,Welcome to the group. The rash is only on her face and not her head?Is it on her forehead where the helmet covers? There can be heat rash. When my daughter had it, it was under her band. You can tryhydrocortizone. it is safe for babies. Rub it in and let it dry beforereplacing helmet. I haven't heard of a band causing a rash on the face other than wherethe band was. There are a small number of babies who are allergic tothe material in the band. I've heard this for starband and they havean alternate hypoallergenic foam they can use to make the band (theywould need to make a new one if this is the case). but again the rashwould be under the band, rather than on the rest of her face as far asi know.let us know what you figure out.-christine>> Hi - I am new to the group, but my daughter just got her helmet 2 > weeks ago and she was 9 months. Guest guest
It definitely is in the sideburn area. I put the cream on it, which seems to be working. I also put some cotton in that area of the helmet with a lot of cornstarch. I had to put something there because the helmet just keeps irritating this area. I am also going to ask about the hypoallergenic helmet. Thanks again for your help. , Long Island NYchristineashok <christineashok@...> wrote: Hi , this sounds pretty normal. we usually call this area the"sideburn". :-)-christine> >> > Hi - I am new to the group, but my daughter just got her helmet 2 > > weeks ago and she was 9 months. Guest guest
It sounds like the band might just need to be adjusted in that particular area - i.e., have some of the foam shaved off of the sideburn. My son had redness there as well and the ortho made an adjustment there which helped. Guest guest
Thanks. They did shave some off, but maybe more needs to be shaved off. For know the cotton, cornstrach and cortizone are working great! , NY"Foley, Molly" <mafoley@...> wrote: It sounds like the band might just need to be adjusted in that particular area - i.e., have some of the foam shaved off of the sideburn.
