I don't know if my last message went through or not........

-I have been to many docs and each increases or lowers my meds and I can't

regulate my thyroid......my T4 had always been low so docs had put me on

levythoxine and I was taking 75mg T4 and armour 45g 2/day in NOV. 09. I then

asked the doc to test for RT3 and these were my results:

-RT3: 419 (range 90--350)

-FT3: 3.6 (range 2.3--4.2)

-FT4: 1.5 (range .8--1.8)

TSH: .03 (range .40--5.2)

I also have high thyroid antibodies of 5.64 (range less than 1.20) and have

hashimotos.

I stopped the levythoxine and retested in DECEMBER 09:

-RT3: 295 (range 90--350)

-FT3: 4.08 (range 1.8--4.2)

-FT4: 1.2 (range .8--1.9)

*the FTs were taken by different lab than November.

I upped the armour to 60g 3/day and switched doctors. In APRIL 2010

I tested:

-TSH: .1 (range .3--5)

-FT3: 3.19 (range 1.8--4)

-TT4: 6.0 (range 4--12) I don't know why this doc didn't test free level

He told me I didn't have RT3 problem (w/o re-testing), and said to lower armour

to 60g. 2/day.

Now I just retested:

-TSH .03 (.35--5.5)

-FT3: 3.5 (2.3--4.2)

-FT4: .9 (.8--1.8)

My hair is falling out, dry skin, weight loss (I have never gained weight since

being dx'd), trouble sleeping, hot sweats, etcetc...

I don't know what to do.....my T's never test well. Now I am taking just 60

grains armour (between nature-thyroid and thryoid-s) twice/day, and I also take

adrenal support..........

Any help you can give would be much appreciated........

You probably need Nick or Val to confirm, but it looks like to me you may have an rt3 problem. I know I do! Your labs aren't calculated like mine, so get one of them to confirm this. If so, you don't need to be taking the t4 OR the Armour. ????

You know I don't have not one confidence in doctors anymore......and the last two were basically not endos but sort of alternative docs, both recommended by S. But I have gone to so many and not one even mentioned RT3 and I had to actually tell the doctor to add it to my lab results. Now this new doc tells me it's not necessary to test this because it's impossible I could have a RT3 problem with my tested results (I'm not very good at discussing with him unfortunately). I really think there's something that none of these great 'top-docs' are seeing.............and I think I can only get help through someone here. I really don't know if it's RT3 or not, since my Dec result came out normal after stopping the T4.
