We got our daughter's helmet from and Filippis- she has a big indent around the bottom of her head from where the padding around the bottom. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it normal? Thanks-

Hi ,

I don't have any first hand experience with W & F but from what I recall

from this group they use the danmar helmet. This is a passive band and

tends to work more slowly than some other bands. A few parents have

been unhappy with Danmar (and at least some ended up rebanding),

although I'm sure some are satisfied too. The reason I mention this is

not to worry you, but to let you know that it is good to make sure

your concerns are addressed.

In terms of the band causing an indent, this shouldn't happen. I don't

remember reading this hear before. The band may cause some red spots

that fade, but not an indent. I would check back with your ortho and

make sure it gets resolved satisfactorily. Also one thing that I think

is good is taking your own pictures every week or two so you can see

if the head shape really is improving. That way you'll know you're on

the right track.

My daughter wore a starband for severe brachy and got very good

correction. But just to be fair to danmar, there are also people who

have been unhappy with starbands too. That is one reason I think it is

good to know for yourself that the band is working. I took pics of my

daughter regularly and could really see the changes (Our Plagio Babies

S/Sydney M).

Please let us know if you are able to correct the problem with your

daughter's helmet, and how she is doing in it.

take care. -christine
