Guest guest
HI everyone- Has anyone ever used any of the baby equipment rental companies to rent baby gear when they have gone on vacation. We're giong to Naples, FL in a few weeks and are going to need to rent a crib, and some other items and am wondering if anyone can reccomend a company. We read some online reviews ABC baby rentals and the other one is babies away.com I am wondering if anyone has ever used either of these or can reccommend a good reliable rental company. Guest guest
I'm not sure about those specific companies, but when we went to Hilton Head a couple of years ago, we were able to rent a crib directly from the rental agency that rented out the house. We just told them we needed one and they had it all set up for us when we checked in. It was a portacrib, lower to the ground, but it did the job. So you might want to look into that as well. Not sure about the other items though, but it might be worth checking into. > > HI everyone- Has anyone ever used any of the baby equipment rental companies to rent baby gear when they have gone on vacation. Guest guest
I would be nervous to rent a crib. They say sids increases with the amount of children who use a mattress. (Healthychild.org) I would buy a portable crib such as the one that I got at Khols. It blows up and has a netting over it so the baby can not get out. It is some sort of a travel crib. It comes in a carry case for flying. In terms of other equiptment I would look into the services but wash the stuff thoroughly when you get it. I am a germ freak! Guest guest
- How old is your baby? My daughter was 18 months old when we went to the beach and rented the crib from the rental agency, so SIDS wasn't a concern for me. But if you have a little one, you might want to listen to Tammy. I hadn't heard what she said about the mattresses, but it is something to consider. Could you take your pack and play? You could probably check that on a plane if you're flying, it's no bigger than a set of golf clubs and people travel with those all the time. in Raleigh (Mom to Jordan and Jake) > > > > HI everyone- Has anyone ever used any of the baby equipment rental > companies to rent baby gear when they have gone on vacation. Guest guest
oh god! I didn't even think of SIDs! Why does it increase? We don't own a pack and play but maybe we will buy one. The company said that they matresses and equipment is no older than 5 years old, but now I am worried.!nwilkens2275 <nwilkens2275@...> wrote: -How old is your baby? Guest guest
I don't think 5 years would be a problem. People who have more than 2 or 3 kids probably use their crib mattress longer than that. But definitely read up on it if you're concerned. > > > > > > HI everyone- Has anyone ever used any of the baby equipment > rental > > companies to rent baby gear when they have gone on vacation. Guest guest
Yeah I remember hearing you are n't supposed to pass down matresses so we're going to get him a pack and play and bring it. Unfortunately we're flying so I am trying to limit the stuff we bring- We are bring the stroller and car seat into the cabin w/ us b/c I was afraid it woudl get broken with all the luggage being thrown on it . But I guess I will have to check the pack and play. Guest guest
I would even think borrowing a pac n play from a friend would be fine. I completely understand limiting the amount of stuff you bring while flying with a little one but I would probably want my own crib or one from a good friend. > > > > > > > > HI everyone- Has anyone ever used any of the baby equipment > > rental > > > companies to rent baby gear when they have gone on vacation. > We're > > > giong to Naples, FL in a few weeks and are going to need to rent > a > > > crib, and some other items and am wondering if anyone can > > reccomend > > > a company. Guest guest
Renting a " crib " - My husbands travels aLOT so we've been flying with my DDtr since she was 3.5 months. The " cribs " often are pack n plays and they've been great at the hotels we've used. I get Lysol wipes when we arrive or pack some in a zip lock. I wipe it down and bring my own padded mattress cover and super soft sheet from Babies R US. It's worked great for us and I'm glad not to have the extra luggage. A couple more tips - you can gate check your car seat and stroller and I'd do that b/c they literally put it on and off the plane from the runway - we've had no damage this way. Finally, ask the flight attendants on check in if the flight is full - if not they will often let you bring the baby car seat on board and the three of you can sit together with it - especially on SW since they don't have assigned seating although we've been successful on American as well. We head for our second trip to Orlando next month. I also get xtra diapers, food, and now formula when I arrive (I carry on enough for two days in case we are delayed both coming and going.) Email me if you have more travel questions. 6 mos. Guest guest
hi michelle- thanks for the info and that's exactly what were doing. we're going to check the car seat and stroller when we get on the plane so it doesn't get broken. It's unlikely there will be an extra seat since we're flying 1st class- whoo hoo and all the seats are booked. But atleast the seats will be nice and roomy for all of us. holmanmichelle <nietert2003@...> wrote: Renting a "crib"- My husbands travels aLOT so we've been flying with my DDtr since she was 3.5 months.
