Guest guest
Hi there.Cranio is short for craniosynostosis -- which is when one of the sutures in the head fuses prematurally.See this site for explanation and drawings of the skull, and the different ways it can present. http://www.chw.org/display/PPF/DocID/21810/router.asp Cranio is very rare -- but depending on the severity and placement of the headshape issue, a CT scan or MRI might be used to rule it out because it isn't always caught on xrays. My son had to have a CT scan, just to be safe, even though you could see that the top of his skull (the sattigal suture) was not fused.hope this helps.mom to Quinn, born 11/99, DOCband grad 10/00 for scaphocephalic (long and narrow) headshape which was caused in-utero and was not cranio.>------- Original Message ------->From : kmwood88[mailto:k mwood88@...]>Sent : 3/2/2008 6:08:47 PM>To : Plagiocephaly >Cc : >Subject : RE: Can someone tell me what "cranio" is?
