Guest guest
Hello Heidrun, Your daughter is lucky to have you help her out with this. Hopefully I'm interpretting the numbers correctly, but this is what I think they mean: I think he has severe brachy (flat in back) as well as plagio (asymmetry). Brachy - his head went from 106.7% to 96%. (this is M-L/A-P) normal is about 80%. My daughter started with her band at about 96% and finished at 85%. (worn age 5 to 10 mo). With brachy there is a lot of extra width sometimes so you can really only try to keep the head from getting wider (it won't shrink) and direct the growth to the back. This will improve the overall proportion of the head. He did get decent correction previously, but it was pretty bad to start with. His plagio went from 14 mm to 6 mm. (this is the difference between the 2 diagonal measurements). 6 mm is mild, so you probably don't really need to work on this as much at this point. 0-3 is normal and 4-6 is mild. since his brachy number is still so high I would probably go to CT for a consultation and try to band him again. CT has a very good reputation and hopefully you'll get some more correction. Luckily my daughter graduated from her band before getting coordinated enough to pull it off. If you want to see my daughters pictures to see the correction she got for brachy they are under Our Plagio Babies S/Sydney M. Her is a copy of her starscan that shows before and after. http://health.ph./group/Plagiocephaly/photos/view/e3ac?b=51 & m=f & \ o=0 Good luck with it and please let us know how things go at CT. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > Hi, my name is Heidrun Benbrook, proud grandma of Aiden, age 15 1/2 > months. Guest guest
Heidrun, We currently are taking our son (8 months old now) to the Oakbrook location. I can't say enough good things about that location, we have had TREMENDOUS success so far and he has been in his band for 2 months only. I don't want to steer you wrong becuase every childs condition is different. But if I had a second child with the same problems as my first I would NOT hesitate to take him to cranial tech in Oakbrook. Our clinian is Ginny, but we have seen TJ as well and they are both FANTASTIC. Good Luck on your journey, this website has been a god send for me and my family. > > Hi, my name is Heidrun Benbrook, proud grandma of Aiden, age 15 1/2 > months. Guest guest
Thank you so much for your reply - this is a big decision for us because of the travel involved. 5 hours each way with a baby is a loooong trip, but it will be worth it. Thanks for the vote of confidence. Thanks, Heidrun On 3/4/08, Hill <karen.maurer@...> wrote: Heidrun,We currently are taking our son (8 months old now) to the Oakbrook location.
