Guest guest
I think it is definitely worth it. There are babies who start later and still get good results. I think CT has good experience with older babies too. Plus you'll know you did as much as possible even if it doesn't correct 100%. Let us know how she does. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > Hi! > I am just writing to ask your opinions on starting DOC Band at 13 > months old. > My daughter always had a cone-shape head ever since she was > born, but I never thought seriosly about it. Guest guest
Hi, My son wore a Doc Band from CT in Paramus NJ starting at 14mo and graduated at 18 months. It can't hurt to try. Even at 13 months you are sure to get some improvement but it does all depend on her head growth while she is wearing the band as each child is different. If you are interested in checking out my son's photos they are in the C folder under CJ P.Study 1, 2 & 3. These are the composite shots that CT takes at the start and finish of treatment. Which CT location are you using? Good luck 2 you! If you have any other questions let me know!! - Mom to CJ - 2yrs 1mo old Doc Band Graduate 9/2007 > > Hi! > I am just writing to ask your opinions on starting DOC Band at 13 > months old. > My daughter always had a cone-shape head ever since she was > born, but I never thought seriosly about it. Guest guest
It's Def. worth it! My son gets his helmet tommarow and he is 2 weeks shy of 12 months. doc band said that he is still young enough to get it and have great results. > > Hi! > I am just writing to ask your opinions on starting DOC Band at 13 > months old. > My daughter always had a cone-shape head ever since she was > born, but I never thought seriosly about it. Guest guest
Thank you so much for your encouraging words! I definitely feel much better about doing the band. And as you said, I'd feel much better knowing that I tried everything I can for my baby. Actually, I also am going to CT in Paramus, NJ. Nice to hear good things about the place! One other concern is that when they were doing the casting, my baby moved around too much that they had to do a second casting... Yeah, double the torture! Anyway, little concened about the cast being off... Is that possible? > > > > Hi! > > I am just writing to ask your opinions on starting DOC Band at 13 > > months old. > > My daughter always had a cone-shape head ever since she was > > born, but I never thought seriosly about it. Guest guest
Hi- I just realized that I hadn't responded to your first post and I just wanted to chime in that 13 months old is not too late. My son was 17 months old when he got his DOCBand and there is definitely improvement. But I'm sure it's not quite as much or as fast as it would have been had we done it a year ago. However, I am thrilled that we did band, even at his late age, and don't regret a minute of it. We're half way through the process and if he improves as much in the second half as he has in the first, I think I'll be really satisfied with the results. Did your baby thrash around a lot for the second casting as well? My son is really strong and put up a heck of a fight, but the therapist did a good job of keeping his head still and I held his legs as tight as I could, so we didn't need a second casting. His band ended up fitting fine. It is possible to get a bad fit, but I wouldn't assume that would be the case just because they had to do a second cast. Good luck! Guest guest
I would think that after the second casting, they probably got what they wanted but if you are at all concerned, I would give in a call and ask whoever casted your baby that question. I go to the NJ CT and everytime I have a question, they get back to me within a few hours.
