Guest guest
Marina, DOCband is a specific brand made by Cranial Technologies, Starband and Hanger have similar bands. I believe that some people call them a helmet and some people call them a band but I believe it is all the same thing. Someone else chime in if I am wrong or if you can explain it better. The bands have to be worn 23 hours a day, one hour for bath time and cleaning the band. Most bands are worn for 3-4 months but you are right, it does depend on the age of the child and the severity. It also depends on how fast the child's head grows. As the child gets older the growth of the head typically slows. Also if your child hits a few growth spurts it could speed up the process and vic versa, if they are growing slow for a while it could prolong the process. The bands only hold the places that don't need growth and you need to wait for the head to grow into the empty spaces in the band to see progress. Hope this was helpful. I had a look at the photo gallery and I can see a lot of similarities with other babies. I've also read some posts and can see that repositioninbg seems to have limited success (this is what I've been trying to do for the last month or so). Its so hard to control how they lay their head when they're sleeping. I bought the repositioning pillow from Toys R Us but he would still turn to the right - he's so stubborn!I am curious to know what is the difference between a DOC band and a Helmut? Also, do these devices have to be worn 24/7? and typically for how long - is it weeks or months or I guess maybe it depends on age and severity of flatness - is that right?thanks for any help - I'm just begining to gather info Marina You rock.
