Big change in labs in short period-I'm dumfounded....worried

I was taking SRT3 and dessicated-I felt terrible and found out I was taking too

much thyroid. My TSH was really suppressed. This was about 3 months ago. I ended

up dropping the dessicated completely on 5/5/2010, so almost two months ago. My

TSH at the end of May was still a 0.027 and my free T3 was a 3.7.

In the meantime, over the last month I started taking B-12, Myoden injections

and over the last 3 weeks, testosterone injections. I probably have felt better

than I have in years. My shakiness had almost went away, I upped my adrenal

support supplements, take 35 mg cortisol, and eat mainly low protein.

Just in the last week or so I have felt a little off, but not horrible. Still a

lot better than 3 months ago. Now for the shocker-here is my latest labs:

FT4=0.3

FT3=325

TSH= 8.37!!! How can that be??

I'm taking 95mg SRT3 and at the end of May, I was taking 120Mg and cut back by

15mg since my TSH was still a 0.027 and I was still a little shakey.

Now over the last few days I have felt a little shakey but not too bad.

Obviously it can't be too much T3 vrs adrenals...

Help--I'm a little nervous about this-that seems like a big change very fast.

Because RT3 from takign the natural thyrodi was supressing your TSH a

FT3 of 3.7 is NOT too high. IN fact ti si toolow which your TSH is now

reflecting. When you take meds that contian T4 and you have alreayd high

RT3, your TSH wil bottom out.

Val-6 quick questions:

1) How's come I felt like crap then when taking dessicated and having the super

suppressed TSh 3 months ago of .005. I didn't feel better until dropping the

dessicated...at the time you recommended I back off because my tsh was too

suppressed and it worked for a while as I felt much better.

2) One month after dropping dessicated I still had a TSh of .027, but felt much

better-That is when I lowered my 120SRT3 to 95SRT3. I still feel better than

then-and my temps are 98.3 or so average-a little low, but not horrible...?

3) Does this mean my shakiness isn't from adrenals or am I shakey now because I

went too far the other way?

4) Should I add back in the 15mg SRT3 right away based on this result?

5) I wonder if this means most if not all the T4 is cleared out and is that

possible to happen in such a short time (tsh .027 to tsh 8.37) in one month?

6) Could testosterone or B-12 raise TSH?

1) How's come I felt like crap then when taking dessicated and having the super

suppressed TSh 3 months ago of .005. I didn't feel better until dropping the

dessicated...at the time you recommended I back off because my tsh was too

suppressed and it worked for a while as I felt much better.

A) Because every time you took NATURAL thyroid you were adding ot already high

RT3, this makes you feel WAY WORSE

2) One month after dropping dessicated I still had a TSh of .027, but felt much

better-That is when I lowered my 120SRT3 to 95SRT3. I still feel better than

Becasue ti takes abotu 4-6 weekd for T4 levels to fall in your body thne the RT3

MUST start to clear befoere T3 can actually reach the cells. Through all this

you were NOT feelign T3, but T4 and RT3, when you started feeling BETTER is esd

because T4 amd RT3 had decreased enough that T3 could begin to work.

3) Does this mean my shakiness isn't from adrenals or am I shakey now because I

went too far the other way?

A) Shakiness cna be from INTOLERANCE to T4 Peatfield aptly calls it thyroid

toxicity.

4) Should I add back in the 15mg SRT3 right away based on this result?

A) with TSH that high I certyainly would add back in more T3.

5) I wonder if this means most if not all the T4 is cleared out and is that

possible to happen in such a short time (tsh .027 to tsh 8.37) in one month?

A) most the T4 is cleared but you have abotu 7-8 more weeks before ALL the RT3

will clear.

6) Could testosterone or B-12 raise TSH?

A) NO.

Val, thanks or the answers, you're a great help-I have two more ?'s to help end

my confusion:

1) My RT3 had already dropped considerably by the end of last year as I was

mixing SRT3 and dessicated and the Labs showed this-so with this in mind, I

probably still had a lot of RT3 blocking receptors even though labs showed RT3 a

lot lower-does that sound correct?

2) So what would explain some of my shakiness now-even though it isn't close to

what I had before? Is this an adrenal issue? Could it be weakness as my body is

obviously getting a boost from the T and the B-12 and therefore this may be

stressing my adrenals for lack of real energy from T3?

I'm really concerned as I thought I was finally on my way to health-I don't want

to go backwards. I will be calling my Dr. on Monday-I'm sure he'll recommend

more T3 as well.

Thanks for your help.

A0 This is another PROBABLY answer, but this si why we have to track temps and

pulse. The combo of the two tells the story.

A) Everytime anyone on thyroid meds experiences shakines, it is ALWAYS thought

" high thyroid " well there are SO MANY THINGS thta can cause shaliness, and I

find unless temps are high or PULSE is also consistently high it is nOT thyroid.

Weakness, electrolyte imbalances are first to my mind. I kn0ow one persointhat

started DHEA and that stopped th eshakes.
