Guest guest
Thanks Katheleen....I know this a slow and painful process, but to be in a rush only makes things work. Slow and steady; I hope to win the race.....Rhonda Re: is iron/anemia problem self-correcting with thyroid resolution? The advice I usually see here is that once you get your ft3 up and your ferritin is good, to try lowering the iron supps and see if you can hold onto the iron. Supposedly, you should be able to.But I suspect some people (maybe many) have malabsorption or some other issues that contributed to the low iron in the first place, so many of us may need to take iron for life, although not 200 mg per day, of course. You would just have to experiment ot find the mainteance dose that keeps your ferritin good, especially if you are still menstruating.I have not yet been able to get off of heavy iron supps but I have only recently cleared rt3 and my ft3 is still not optimal, but getting there! Kathleen>> Just want to better understand; is the problem with hypothyroidism-caused anemia and iron deficiency usually resolved after RT3 clearance and beyond, or do people like us often need heavy iron dosing or IV iron continually and indefinitely afterwards, even when on stable doses of T3 for years (or maybe just a smaller maintenance dose daily)?> > Kate in NC>__________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 5227 (20100624) __________The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus.http://www.eset.com __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 5230 (20100625) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com
