Guest guest
Hairloss, trouble catching breath both scream to me iron issues. Can you post your iron labs? http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://artisticgrooming.net/ Can I get some feedback on what I am doing? I am really frustrated because I have been doing this so long, making mistakes and set backs all along. Maybe someone could give me some pointers. When starting back in January my rt3 ratio was a 6 and Ferritin was in the 20's. Fairly quickly I was able to raise ferritin and iron panel reflect good iron levels. The raise in iron didn't provide noticeable benefits so I did a saliva cortisol test. AM is low so treating with IsoCort. My dosing schedule is as follows: wake up 18.25mcg t3 and 4 IsoCort 2 hrs later 18.25mcg t3 2 hrs later 12.50 mcg and 3 isocort 2 hrs later 12.50 mcg 2 hrs later 12.50 mcg 2 hrs. later 12.50 mcg bedtime 12.50 mcg total 99mcg t3 and 7 isocort I am trying to stay at smaller more frequent doses because my once low pulse of 60-66 is now up to 88-90's and higher. A "good" pulse for me would be around 72. I was a fit runner even when my rt3 was too high. Now with treatment I feel like I am always trying to catch my breath. I know something is "off" but I can't figure it out. I tried dropping my t3 dose down into the 80's but my hair falls out. I have been up on my t3 around 125mcg hair doesn't fall but my pulse is too high. I have also tried the saltwater test and it doesn't elp. My main problems are feeling like I can't catch my breath, even when just talking. And I feel a lot weaker, out-of-shape feeling. I know I am not. I eat right, healthy weight and lifestyle. Something is wrong though. What could it be? I am working on my magnesium. It really hasn't helped either. Anyone with feedback please shed some light! Guest guest
total iron 101 (40-175) iron binding cap. 325 (250-450) % sat. 31 (15-50) ferritin 158 (10-232) RBC mag 4.2 (4.0-6.4) FYI Ferritin 3/8/2010 65 OK You have several thing in this lab that raise flags for me. Your iron binding capacity is too high which means you need mroe iron, your % saturation shoudl be 35-45% so also too lwo, and the onyl thing that looks good is your ONE ferritin which is high which I suspect ois form inflammation. I would go back on a lower dose of iron, maybe 50mg to 75mg daily. This hopefulyl will help you tolerate the T3 better and stop hairloss. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://artisticgrooming.net/ > total iron 101 (40-175) > iron binding cap. 325 (250-450) > % sat. 31 (15-50) > ferritin 158 (10-232) > RBC mag 4.2 (4.0-6.4) FYI > Ferritin 3/8/2010 >
Guest guest
I am still on iron. Never went off. I now take 65mg (elemental) twice a day. Do you think I should go back up to 3x daily? That would be a total of 195mg. I had these problems even when I was on the higher dose. I really think it is something else. What do you think of the t3 dose? Maybe raise that with the iron? I can also post cortisol results if that helps. Guest guest
Hi Suzanne, If unable to afford to retest the entire Iron Panel now (following the correct protocols) perhaps reduce to one tab for now & retest in a couple of months? If you can also do a CBC with ESR, Homocysteine, CRP & Fibrinogen at the same time as the iron Panel even better. Lethal Lee > > Thanks for that info. > > Would you suggest I stop taking iron? When these labs were run I had been taking 65mg of elemental iron three times a day (didn't take five days before test). After this lab I went down to 65mg twice a day. That is where I am now. Show I stop altogether or go down to one a day and see how I feel? Maybe run labs again after being on one for awhile. > > Which labs would you recommend at that point? Thanks Lethal Lee > > > > > ________________________________ > > To: RT3_T3 > Sent: Fri, June 25, 2010 11:09:47 AM > Subject: Re: feedback/t3 schedule > >  > HI Suzzanne & Val, > > I cannot agree that these labs show too low Iron at all. > > > total iron 101 (40-175) > > iron binding cap 325 (250-450)*37% in range > > % sat. 31 (15-50) > > ferritin 158 (10-232)*far too high > > RBC mag 4.2 (4.0-6.4)*far too low > > Ferritin 3/8/2010 65 > > Serum Iron is so volatile as to be a pretty useless test unless strict protocols are followed & interpreted with other tests (Full Iron Panel, CBC, Inflammatory markers) > > A TIBC of 325 is LOW & only 37% in range. The optimal % range is actually 25-35% so her result is bang in the middle. > > Ferritin of 158 is far too high of course. You are correct & there may be some inflammation causing Iron sequestration (hence higher Ferritin). However there is NO WAY to know this without testing CBC, ESR, Fibrinogen, CRP & Homocysteine at the SAME time. > > Of course UNLESS the correct protocols are followed most of the Iron panel is useless. You need to test early am fasting, no meds & supps until after test, no Iron supps for minimum 5 days (7 days is better) AND no high iron food or drink for at least 3 days (preferably 5 or more). > > Were these protocols followed? > > The RBC Mag is of course far too low. If you have been trying to bring this up with oral supps you don't have have a hope. What you need is transdermal oil (I recommend Ancient Minerals) applied daily & it will take several months to replentish. > > Lethal Lee
