What iron levels are high enough to allow thyroid into the cells? Is ferritin of 50 high enough? What about iron?

Re: So down today!! What else can I do???

You need to stop the thyroid. And MORE iron. At least 200mg elemental iron a day or if oyu can find a doctor your levels warrant an Iron IV. That lwo iron is not allowing the thyrodi into the cells and is also causing tons of your symptoms along wiht the RT3 which I am certain yours is through the roof blockign any remaining T3 form the receptors.-- http://nthadrenalsweb.org/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/------------------------------------We are not medical professionals here, just patients sharing our experiences. Moderator Nick's website has info on this:

" If your Ferritin is 50 or over you can start T3 and supplement iron at the same

time aiming to get Ferritin to 70 by the time your T3 has got up to 50mcg a day.

If your ferritin is under 50 you will need to supplement iron heavily and may

get adverse effects on taking more than a very small amount of T3. "

from:

Ferritin test results can be falsely elevated by inflammation or other causes,

so it is usually recommended to get a full iron panel, in addition to a ferritin

test, to get a complete picture of iron status. Stopping iron supplements 5

days before any iron test is a must.

Here's a link to good iron and ferritin info:

Not everyone agrees on what a " healthy " iron level is. I myself go by what Val

and Nick say.

Hope this helps.
