Guest guest
I am so thrilled for you. I have remembered your story all week and have held good thoughts for you. I wonder also, why don't they recommend a helmet? how is this different from plagio? > > Hello my friends...all of your prayers worked! > We met with a head Neurosurgeon at Children's Hosp of Philadelphia, who > took one quick look at her and said NO. Guest guest
HI , thanks so much for thinking of me... He said its the EXACT OPPOSITE of plagio??? He said her head in fact is NOT flat--very rounded, pointy in the back...so it gives of the appearance of the sides being flat, but they are fine--its the occiput that is prominent. He said nothing about a band? And said her head would look like anyone elses... We shall see!! ~marcy Mommy to Greta 2 mos "prominent occiput" and 17mos wildman Re: GRETA UPDATE I am so thrilled for you. I have remembered your story all week and have held good thoughts for you. Guest guest
Marcy:It's good news to hear that she doesn't have cranio. I haven't seen pictures yet, as I don't often go to the main board, but from your new desctiption it sounds like she has a long narrow headshape. Am I understanding this correctly? If so, it is also called sometimes dolichocephalic or scaphocephalic (both mean long and narrow). My son had this because of breech positioning. After he was born he couldn't lay on his back looking up, only looked side to side -- we used a mini-boppy behind his neck to help him look around, and to also put pressure on the back of his head so that it would receed. The back of his head was pretty long, though, and he had no slope at all, so we did end up using a molding device. There are some pictures, and a least one of him using the mini-boppy, as well as a brief bio at http://www.ca ppskids.org/CAPPSPlagioKidQuinn.htmTake care.-- Re: GRETA UPDATE I am so thrilled for you. Guest guest
I'm very glad to hear it isn't cranio. One thing to consider is that neuros are known for being much more interested in cranio which effects brain growth than in the shape. It is possible he's not very pro-banding (many neuros aren't). If you're not happy with her head shape I would still consider banding, even if the neuro doesn't think it is needed. A lot of doctors tell parents that the babies head will round out on its own and it isn't always true. I wouldn't want to miss the opportunity to band only to find out later that the shape didn't improve on its own. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > > > Hello my friends...all of your prayers worked! > > We met with a head Neurosurgeon at Children's Hosp of Philadelphia, who > > took one quick look at her and said NO. Guest guest
Hi, There were absolutely NO concerns about her brain or the pressure on her brain." Having a prominent occiput has nothing to do with any brain issues, just a cosmetic thing"(from what the neurosurgeon said)...he said she will grow into her head:)And it already looks different from 2 weeks ago... Can you please send me the websites you have visited? I am very curious to see what they say about it...I have looked up "prominent occiput" through google also, and have found nothing? Thanks so much!!! ~marcy Re: GRETA UPDATE Was the neuro concerned at all about the prominent occiput? Is further investigation needed to ensure her brain is developing correctly and there are no other issues going on? I only ask because I googled it to see what exactly it is and there were some different websites about it. Anyways, hopefully, it isn't a concern at all.> > >> > > Hello my friends...all of your prayers worked!> > > We met with a head Neurosurgeon at Children's Hosp of> Philadelphia, who > > > took one quick look at her and said NO.
