Guest guest
hi kristen-i believe that the 14 mm diff they are referring to, is the difference b/t the oblique diag 1-oblique diag 2. hope this helps. my son dean was banded at 4 months and started with a 10mm assym-we got great results in less than 3 months-he went down to a 3.6mm diff which is in the "normal" range-whatever normal really is....haha. good luck with your adventure-it really isn't that bad-it will be over before you know it-keep me posted! Lee-Ann mom to Dean STARband grad 10/4/07-1/4/08 Confused on the starscanner info Hi,My son Bradley has his first appointment on the 8 of this month and will be getting his starband on tues the 22nd. But I am still confused when it comes to the numbers and results of the scan. this is what it says:Circumference (mm) 471.3Cranial Breadth(M-L) (mm) 147.6Cranial Length(A-P) (mm) 151.6Cephalic Ratio(M-L/A-P) 0.973Radial Symmetry Index(RSI0 (mm) 65.1Oblique Diagonal 1 at -30.0 deg (mm) 159.9Oblique Diagonal 2 at 30.0 deg (mm) 145.7Oblique Cranial Minimum at 63.7 deg (mm) 140.4Oblique Cranial Maximum at -33.9 deg (mm) 160.3Q1 Volume (A/L) (cc) 256.5Q2 Volume (A/R0 (cc) 203.8Q3 Volume (P/R) (cc) 259.2Q4 Volume (P/L) (cc) 254.3Anterior Symmetry Ratio 0.795Posterior Symmetry Ratio 0.9981Overall Symmetry Ratio 0.888Upper Facial Left (TrL-Se) (mm)94.1Upper Facial Right (trR-Se) (mm) 100.0Upper Facial Symmetry Ratio 0.941Ear Offset (mm) 8.4Cranial Base WIdth (TrL-TrR) (mm) 138.7Vertex Hight (Lev0-Lev10) (mm) 104.9Can anyone please help me read this and tell me what it says. Or give me an idea of what they usual look at. I am just really confused. All I know is that somewhere in all those numbers it is suppose to mean that he is at a 14mm which is moderate plagio. But I would like to know how it says that and what all rest of it means. So if anyone or everyone can please help i would appreciate it.Thanks in advance Bradley 8 1/2 months Moderate plagio
Guest guest
I think " bella " is correct about the 14mm. In addition your child has brachycephaly (brachy) meaning his head is almost as wide as it is long. This is the cephalic ratio of 97%. This number is (cranial breadth/cranial length) = .97 or 97%. Our daughter wore a starband for severe brachy (97%) with very little asymmetry (4.5 mm). She had great correction. You can see her before and after pics at Our Plagio Babies S/Sydney M. She ended up about 86%. The combo of brachy and plagio is pretty common. The band can treat both, although they may decide to focus on one, and then the other. This should discuss this with your ortho. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > hi kristen-i believe that the 14 mm diff they are referring to, is the difference b/t the oblique diag 1-oblique diag 2. hope this helps. my son dean was banded at 4 months and started with a 10mm assym-we got great results in less than 3 months-he went down to a 3.6mm diff which is in the " normal " range-whatever normal really is....haha. good luck with your adventure-it really isn't that bad-it will be over before you know it-keep me posted! Guest guest
Yes, the results are pretty dramatic. I guess that is why I am so pro-band now. I know she wouldn't have improved like this without a band. Even after 4 mo out of the band there was no additional improvement, so I attribute it all to banding. (I haven't had her head measured since then, but there is still slight flatness that I notice in the bath). -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > > > hi kristen-i believe that the 14 mm diff they are referring to, is > the difference b/t the oblique diag 1-oblique diag 2. hope this helps. > my son dean was banded at 4 months and started with a 10mm assym-we > got great results in less than 3 months-he went down to a 3.6mm diff > which is in the " normal " range-whatever normal really is....haha. good > luck with your adventure-it really isn't that bad-it will be over > before you know it-keep me posted!
