hi kristen-i believe that the 14 mm diff they are referring to, is the difference b/t the oblique diag 1-oblique diag 2. hope this helps. my son dean was banded at 4 months and started with a 10mm assym-we got great results in less than 3 months-he went down to a 3.6mm diff which is in the "normal" range-whatever normal really is....haha. good luck with your adventure-it really isn't that bad-it will be over before you know it-keep me posted! Hi,My son Bradley has his first appointment on the 8 of this month and will be getting his starband on tues the 22nd. I think " bella " is correct about the 14mm. In addition your child has

brachycephaly (brachy) meaning his head is almost as wide as it is

long. This is the cephalic ratio of 97%. This number is (cranial

breadth/cranial length) = .97 or 97%. Our daughter wore a starband for

severe brachy (97%) with very little asymmetry (4.5 mm). She had great

correction. You can see her before and after pics at Our Plagio

Babies S/Sydney M. She ended up about 86%.

The combo of brachy and plagio is pretty common. The band can treat

both, although they may decide to focus on one, and then the other.

This should discuss this with your ortho.

Hi Lee-Ann, that helps a lot with the whole number thing. I will def. keep you all posted. Bradley gets his Starband tomorrow. I am really happy but then again I am nervous. I is suppose to snow tonight and tomorrow and living in southern california I have never drove in the snow so it will be an adventure.

WOW, you can really see the differnece in Sydney's head. I hope that Bradley's looks that good in the aftermath.Thanx for telling me about the brachy, I dont remember my ortho bringing that up at all. i will ask him tomorrow when we get our helmet. thanks again

Yes, the results are pretty dramatic. I guess that is why I am so

pro-band now. I know she wouldn't have improved like this without a

band. Even after 4 mo out of the band there was no additional

improvement, so I attribute it all to banding. (I haven't had her head

measured since then, but there is still slight flatness that I notice

in the bath).
