Guest guest
Hi! I am getting ready to start dosing T3 only. Over on the adrenal forum someone suggested Isocort and I should receive that today. I persuaded my doc to switch me to T3 only and she wrote a script for Cytomel (got liothyronine from the pharm)- wants me to take 1 - 25 mcg tab twice a day. Do I need to start lower than that and work up or just split the dosage up more during the day? I tried to take it as she suggested but felt a little strange, freaked out and went back on Erfa! (plus I didn't have the Isocort yet) I read Val's comment somewhere that T3 can lower cortisol. I don't think I can afford for that to happen. Thanks for your help! Below are my labs from May and March. Cortisol is at the very bottom. Here are thyroid labs from 5/17. On 60 mg Erfa once daily. Doc wanted me to take 60 mg Erfa in the a.m. and 30mg (which I had to split) in the p.m. However I was itching and reduced the dosage to stop the itching then neglected to start taking the p.m. 30 mg dose again, so it's not surprising my TSH was a little more elevated than it normally is. Although a ferritin test was requested (and I saw the order by the doc) for some reason the lab didn't do it?! MAY LABS TSH 2.42 (.34 - 4.82 uIU/ml) FT4 .38 (.77 - 1.61 ng/dL)** FT3 230 (230 - 420 pg/dL)** RT3 20 (11-32 ng/dL) vitD 41 (20 - 100 ng/mL) - I am supplementing 2000 IU daily Insulin 17 (<17 uIU/mL)** c-reactive protein < 0.30 (0.00 - 0.30 MG/DL) CRP-quant 2.3 (1.0 - 3.0 MG/L avg relative cardiovasc. risk) HGBA1C 5.8 (4.8-6.0%) Fasting Glucose 104 (70-110 mg/dL) ** = what my doc flagged on the labs. Doc was concerned that FT4 was too low?! MARCH LABS Erfa Thyroid 60 mg 1x daily + 30 mg at night - feeling decent as long as I'm using Pregnenolone cream. Doc dialed down the Erfa dosage from 2 grains after TSH was 0.0 at my last appointment. We finally did a ZRT test in March (after almost 2 years of dessicated thyroid treatment in one form or another). Here are the results: Estradiol 0.8L* pg/ml (1.3 - 3.3) premenopausal (luteal) Progesterone 44L* pg/ml (75-270) Ratio: Pg/E2 55L* (Optimal: 100-500 when E2 1.3 - 3.3 pg/ml) Testosterone 22 pg/ml (16-55, age dependent) DHEAS 3.4 ng/ml (2-23, age dependent) Cortisol morning 5.4 ng/ml (3.7 - 9.5) noon 2.1 ng/ml (1.2 - 3.0) evening 0.5L* ng/ml (0.6 - 1.9) night 0.3L* ng/ml (0.4 - 1.0) Here are the thyroid labs that were done about the same time as the ZRT saliva panel in March: TSH = 0.0 (0.34 - 4.82 uIU/ml) Free T4 = 0.68 (0.77 - 1.61 ng/dL) Free T3 = 352 (230-420 pg/dL) no RT3 was done at this time, however on Nov. 2009 RT3 = 216 (90 - 350 pg/ml)

Guest guest
WOW! I am so glad I posted! I have been halving and quartering my 25 mcg tabs. I leave tomorrow on vacation I'm not sure I'll be able to get the script since I haven't seen her lately and she's about 80 miles away! Today I took 12.5 in the am and another quarter dose at 11 and 3 .. feeling kind of buzzy, now I know why! Do I increase dosage about every couple of days or more like weekly? > > Hi! Guest guest
That's how I was started on T3, 5mcg twice a day. It worked fine and didn't overload me. Then I titrated according to how I felt, very cautiously. <>Roni Immortality exists! It's called knowledge! Just because something isn't seen doesn't mean it's not there<>> Hi!
