I have symptoms very similar to yours when I go into an atrial fibrillation episode. The reason your machine could be giving you different numbers is because everything is jumping around if your are in atrial fibrillation. The first time I was taken to the ER with

this, they hooked me up to a monitor and everyone who came into the room (doctors,

nurses, technicians) all said the same thing when they looked at the monitor, "Wow,

look at that!"

Subject: Val - help!! High pulse/addendumTo: "RT3" <RT3_T3 >Date: Friday, July 2, 2010, 6:58 PM

Addendum to below: Val I took my bp and it was 98/68...pulse 110, I tried it again and it came up to 117/71 with pulse 120 a minute later, this is highly unusual. I'm not having an anxiety attack over this but I'm going to take a xanax to help me relax, maybe it'll help the pulse. Since weaning off 5 mg HC my bp has come down too more normal range but this is pretty low for me and pulse is way high, normal pulse for me is 75 - 90 max.

I wrote earlier: For some odd reason about 2 hours ago my heart started beating really hard, like hard enough to actually hurt. Up until then I felt good all day, doing a little housework but not over doing myself. My temps are 98.7 avg today, yesterday a bit higher. My bp has been 121/74 pulse 71 morning, 124/82 pulse 82 afternoon and when my heart started pumping hard and felt pain across my chest (like when you run fast) my bp was 118/85 but pulse was running 100. I've laid down and tried relaxing but my heart keeps pounding...really strange for me. Taking 100 mcg T3 4x daily with 25 mg. HC.

Roni I appreciate you trying to answer my 2 questions to Val but I really need

Val's input, she has been holding my hand on a couple of recent issues and right

now she's who I really need an answer from...I hope she's not gone for the

weekend. I know what a fibrillation episode is and I don't think this isn't

what happened, I had no flutters, irregular heart beats, anxiety, shortness of

breath, weakness, sweating or dizziness that is common with an AF episode.

It felt more like I'd just got off the treadmill for 30 minutes full bore but

the pulse wouldn't come down, sort of like I suddenly went hyper and I am

thinking I must have finally gotten too much T3 pushed into my system today. On

June 20th I suddenly went hyper and Val said to take my HC down, I did and I've

felt good until today. I briefly considered that I might have cleared but I'm

just now into my 6th week of taking T3. If I don't hear from Val, Nick or

Margery before tomorrow I'm going to half my meds and go down to 50 mcg and

work my way back up again. Right now my heart isn't pounding anymore and my

headache has gone, my pulse is 90 bp is 133/74 so am feeling better now. I

mainly just want to know if Val thinks I finally got some T3 into my cells and

if I'm on the right track with cutting back from 100 mcg to 50 mcg and work my

way back up.

Thanks Roni,

Kem

Are you getting enough salt? The low BP is probabyl just adrenal stress

from the high thyroid to the cells. But as in my earlier post I do not

think cutting T3 to 50 is needed just drop 25mcg and hold at 75mcg for

a few days and see how thta goes.

Here and catching up.

It could be sodium, cound be adrenal if you have just cut HC

Try a 2.5 stress dose and see if that helps

I personally think that going up or down should be done gradually to limit any extra stress on the body. If you think dropping might help, try 5 mcg for about 4 days, then another 5 mcg for another four days and then stick to that for at least a week to see how you feel.

None of these changes up or down are or are supposed to be instantaneous.

When I saw that one reading that was so low, salt did came to mind. I've been using celtic sea salt on my food for months now, I will add a bit more if I ever get another off range reading like that again. Roni, I dropped 100 T3 down to 75 mcg per Val, that's 6.25 mcg less per pill. When I wrote that I was going to drop down to 50 mcg I was remembering what Nick had said about clearance and dropping dose to half or lower...that's where I was coming from.Nick, 2 weeks ago I dropped 2.5 mg HC and the following week I dropped another 2.5 mg HC, my pulse and blood pressure was over the top and Val said to lower, with the exception of yesterday my pulse/bp have improved dramatically. When my pulse dropped so low I was thinking about the salt factor/adrenal stress. This week has been stressful with some personal stuff going on so thanks for the advice on stress dosing;-)Kem<<Posted by: "Roni Molin" matchermaam@... matchermaamSat Jul 3, 2010 11:30 am (PDT)I personally think that going up or down should be done gradually to limit any extra stress on the body. I suppose everyone's system is diffeent. I always try to err on the side of caution. I read the dosing information and they do say that after 25 mcg it can be increased by 25 mcg for a week or two to see how one feels. These doses are tricky sometimes and small amounts can make a diffeence. I would certainly listen to Val's experience before I did drastic raises or lowering on my own, so it's good she's helping you.
