Guest guest
Hi, We saw Bob at CIRS for my daughter's band. She had severe brachy (flat in back) and a giant head :-) Bob doesn't have great bedside manner, but I think he's a good ortho. To me he seems like he's trying to be friendly, but it isn't natural for him. My daughter had very good results. For our initial scan we saw Amy, and she is definitely friendlier. It just turned out that she was on vacation when our band came in, and generally once one of them starts working on your band, they stick with it until your done. I'm sure you could change to Amy if you want to. About the giant head.... My daughter's head was 50th percentile at birth, but over 90th percentile at 6 mo. They don't like to see your child's head change from one growth curve to another so this concerned our ped. However my daughter's development was very good (on time or ahead) and her height and weight were 90% or higher. So at 6 mo we got an ultrasound to check for hydrocephalus. CT scan is a better test, but since her soft spot was open and there was no sign of delay our ped recommended ultrasound and monitoring future growth (to avoid the radiation of a CT scan). Her head was fine and more or less started mapping to the 95th percentile growth curve. She's 2 yrs old now and her height, weight and head are all about 97th. Did you little one always have a big head? Is your ped worried about it? If you have any questions that I can answer I would be happy to. Guest guest
Our son had a jump in head growth around 6 months which concerned our ped. We went back 6 weeks later to measure growth and to rule out hydracephalus. The doctor has mentioned before that my husband has a big head (not in a mean way by any means, just a fact). My son is 95th-97th in height and head size and about 85-90 for weight. I do find that clothing companies need to make neck holes bigger! My son is almost 19 months and wearing 24mos.-2T but some shirts I will need to put away because they are too hard to get over his head...any thoughts or brands that work well for kids with big heads? Back to your son, is your ped concerned or could it be like my son (just like daddy)? Good luck. lisa > > > > Hi all, > > My son Cody (8 mos.) had his Starband eval with Bob last week. Guest guest
I know it isnt always the cuteist stuff, but I have always found that Walmart's Faded Glory brand has large head holes. Actually I think they run large in all aspects... Kamilka_236 <lka_236@...> wrote: Our son had a jump in head growth around 6 months which concerned our ped. Guest guest
I know that my son has a BIG head too. He is also in the 95th percent for this head (thanksto his dad and grandfather) and I found the shirts with buttons down the front work great and also to buy them a size too big. I hope that helps. Guest guest
Hi, thanks for your response. We will go ahead and have Bob fit him and see how things go. I have heard some good things about Bob, although everyone agrees his bedside manner isn't great, it sounds like he's been a good ortho for many children. Cody gets his Band in 2 days, i'm nervous! As for Cody's head, he and my daughter (she's 3) both were off the charts for head measurement, she had a CT at 6 mos because she was 50th percentile for height and weight and 100th+ percentile for head.... BUT looking back and talking w/ our parents, both my husband and I had large heads as infants/children. So, we call it the " big head gene " . My ped is monitoring him. Thanks! > > > > Hi all, > > My son Cody (8 mos.) had his Starband eval with Bob last week. We know > > that Cody's head measures off the charts but Bob was like " WOW, his > > HEAD IS HUGE!
