Guest guest
My son just graduated from his DOC band. We went to the Phx Cranial Tech and just LOVED it. Mendy was our clinician and she was wonderful. Spencer adjusted quickly to the DOC band. He was almost 6 months when he got the band. (He had left side plagio). He graduated from the band after 12 weeks of being in it. We are fighting our insurance to get reimbursed for the cost, but if I had to do everything over again, I would pay for the band and got to Cranial Tech. I felt very comfortable there and they were very knowledgeable. I know a lot of the time insurance and who is in network tends to be the deciding factor. In this case, I wouldn't let that be the deciding factor. Which ever facility you choose, I'm sure will be good. Good Luck and keep us posted. Lorie Mom to Spencer and Alizabeth 91/2 months Spencer- DOC band GRAD- 9/2007-12/2007 Glendale, AZ [sPAM] Hi I'm new - any advice? Our pediatrician sent us to the neorosurgeon at Phx Childrens after we tried repositioning and it didn't get any better. The neorsurgeon did a CT and found our daughter has a moderate case of Metopic Synostosis (Premature fusion of the bone that runs down the forehead). This has cause brachycephaly to wear her head is almost as wide in the back as it is long. Our pediatrician referred us to Hanger and the neorosurgeon referred us to Cranial Tech (at Phx Childrens). The neorosurgeon is hoping that the helmet will help to avoid surgery. We have gone to both consultations and are waiting to hear back from the insurance but we already know that Cranial Tech is not in nework so we will end up paying about half if approved. I felt more comfortable with Cranial Tech. My daughter just turned 8 months and so I am trying to decide what I am going to do if the insurance approves or denies us so that we can go ahead ASAP. Does anyone have experience with either Hanger or Cranial Tech in Arizona? Has anyone had a child in a similar situation?
Guest guest
Is surgery needed for the metopic syntosis? I didn't think a band would work with craniosyntosis but works after surgery. > > My son just graduated from his DOC band. We went to the Phx Cranial Tech and just LOVED it.
