Guest guest
Hi there, Does anyone have a suggestion for clearing up a stuffy nose but at the same time keep in mind limiting time in the carseat and/or swing? Our 8 week old is very stuffed up. I've talked with the nurse and pediatrician and we are doing everything they say to do (i.e. elevate the crib, cool mist humidifier, saline drops/bulb suringe (yet we typically get nothing out and you can't see the snot). I honestly think that he would sleep better if he wasn't so stuffed up but I don't want to be doing anything that could make the little bit of the assymetry that he has worse. Any tips would be appreciated. I feel so bad for him because he sounds awful. The pediatrician heard him last week when I took my other son in but didn't seemed concerned as it is definitely just in his nose.
Guest guest
Ask your doctor about breathing treatments. My son had the same problem when he was younger. I tried and tried for almost 3 months to clear him up. Finally I was upset at my doctor because I was tired of him telling me the same stuff..elevate him, cool mist humidifier, saline drops...well he finally gave me a breathing treatment machine to take home with me. It cleared him up within 1-2 days. Godo luck. Guest guest
Tammy, Did you have to keep doing breathing treatments or was it totally gone after 1-2 days? How old was your son when you started breathing treatments? I see the ped. on Thursday so we'll see what he says. > Hi there, > > Does anyone have a suggestion for clearing up a stuffy nose but at the > same time keep in mind limiting time in the carseat and/or swing? Guest guest
The ped said to administer the treatments 3-5x a day until all cold symptoms went away. We did it for four days and he was all clear. My son is in daycare so he gets colds more than I would like so occasionally, on a bad day, we'll administer one for him. However, he hasn't had one in about 2.5 months. He'll be 9mos on Friday. He was 6 months old when we started the breathing treatments but to my knowledge they can get them at any age. I do have to warn you that the babies, well at least my son, don't enjoy the mask on their face. So I would hold it just off of his face and sing to him and make faces at him while he was having one just to distract him. After a few times he was OK with it all as long as I was entertaining him. Guest guest
We used to sit in the bathroom with the shower running on hot. That seemed to loosen stuff up for our son and allow us to use the suringe. Good luck. Guest guest
I'll try that and hopefully that works. Thanks Jenn. > > > > Hi there, > > > > Does anyone have a suggestion for clearing up a stuffy nose but at > the > > same time keep in mind limiting time in the carseat and/or swing? > Our > > 8 week old is very stuffed up.
