Here's my experience for treating my son's torticollis. at 5 month, 16

pounds and can already sit by himself, my son seldom look to the left

by himself, whenever I hold him, he will look at the right side and he

already sleeps to his right side too. We tried positioning, but no use

because he will IMMEDIATELY move to the right side back or cry!

One night, I decided to CO-SLEEP, having him sleep by my right side

and I hold him in my arm so that he sleep toward me at his left side.

I did this for 3 weeks and did some regular training like put all the

toys on his left side during the day, he responded amazingly well and

now I would say he is fully covered.

I hope this helps.

welcome to the group. I don't know about tort since my dd didn't have

it, but many babies do resist. As for UHC they are notorious for

denying, but do sometimes pay on appeal. I guess they figure most

people give up, and they save money.

the helmet process is really not bad. it takes parents much longer to

adjust than the babies. my dd wore a band from age 5 to 10 mo for

severe brachy and did great. it just becomes part of your routine. I

definitely am glad we did it.

We have UHC and were reimbursed 80% (which is what we thought we'd

get based on our policy). We were told the same thing...I think they

deny most people initially but a lot of people win on appeals.

Basically, you have to know your policy. If you email me

(lka_236@...) I will send you a copy of my successful appeal.

Your ped. can also write the prescription if you so desire. Good

luck.
