Guest guest
Hi, I honestly don't think that no/little head growth has anything to do with the band. Is the doctor going to see Alaynah back in another month to remeasure? There was one point that it appeared my son's head " jumped on the chart " so our ped. saw him back 6 weeks later and his head had stayed the same so the concern of hydracephalus was gone. He said that maybe one of the measurements they did was wrong. Babies move a lot and if a different person measured from the last time that could make a world of difference. Maybe since now she won't be seen until 15 months, you could call back and ask if they can remeasure her sooner to see if there is cause for concern or not. PS: I would continue to monitor her milestones BUT realize there is a huge range of " normal " for hitting milestones. And every ped. is different, at 2 years old my ped. says my son should say 100+words; however, another ped. (whom I believe to also be good) says 15-20 words at 2 years. > > Hi everyone, > I have not been on in a long time, but I was a member of this board > this past spring and summer. > Alaynah my daughter spent 4 months in a helmet, and was out of it in > July. Guest guest
A band won't have any impact on head growth, especially once it is off. Growth does slow at about a year. the important thing is that children should follow the same curve for growth. Meaning if they were in the 25th percentile, you would expect them to follow that curve, if they were in the 75th percentile, they should follow that curve. If they don't follow the curve (to an extent) then it is reason for concern. My daughter jumped up quickly (50th at birth and 90th at 6 mo) so my doc did some checks but she is fine and since tracked pretty well to her curve. There is a growth chart in the files section that shows the curves. Plagiocephaly/files/Growth%20Charts/ If you are concerned I would follow up with your doc. at least go back in a few months (2?) for a growth check, and if she isn't tracking then get them to look into it. It is true that it doesn't necessarily indicate a problem, but it is something to keep an eye on. -christine sydney 2 yrs starband grad > > Hi everyone, > I have not been on in a long time, but I was a member of this board > this past spring and summer. > Alaynah my daughter spent 4 months in a helmet, and was out of it in > July.
